I've never played and never going to play any other MMO than this one; however, I would like to know a few basic things about the MMO scene, mainly in order to better understand others' comparisons between MxO and other games and where MxO stands.
Is there any storyline progression in other MMOs like here? If yes, how is it? Can it be compared to MxO in terms of quality? Is it also executed in thought-out live events ingame, or (not in the "either or" sense) by different levels of static content?
On a more general note, do they have comparable live events? Do team members log in IC, or plan event scenarios? Do the contents of these events have a meaning such as here?
World content: I know other games have similar points of interests around like mission contacts, quantitatively beating MxO (according to someone else, this game has 50 contacts in the entire world while others have 50 in the beginning area), or mobs. My question, do these have a similar interwoven story nature like in MxO? Are there relationships between mobs and contacts, do they possibly even partake in an ongoing storyline if there is such one? How about personalities, or writing?
Combat: I've heard the interlock principle is unique. Is that true? Do other games only have "ranged"? How is the tree/ability variety? How good are animations and visual/sound effects?
This game is often appreciated for its urban environment rather than fantasy. I don't have anything against fantasy, I think it can be done very well. But for comparison purposes, how are the worlds of other games with urban environments (like CoH, I think), compared to the Mega City? How are SF environments (if there are such) compared to 01/10? How are fantasy environments compared to the other 4 constructs (I know it's stupid to comare worlds to constructs, but I'd like to get an imagination)? Variety, creativity, atmosphere/feel, exploration value etc..
This one is actually rather because I'm curious about it. The music in MxO covers a large variety of genres, such as metal, techno, baroque church music, Asian folklore, symphonical film music and others I'm probably not familiar with. Generally, it has a high quality and variety, affecting aswell melody and sound -- compare the four district if you don't believe it.
