I salvaged this from a post i made a long time ago....before most of you were born in fact SMILEY

DE is perhaps the best tool to tackle Organisational population balance. Going back to the idea that you cant recon (or cant actually pvp) for a set time, the period of disablement could be adjusted relative to the organisation distribution.

ie
lets go with the idea on death by player you cant recon for 30 seconds
Once you recon there is another delay timer which calculates your ability to jack back in based on the relative organisation population.

for example say on vector on death the population is 50% Zion, 30% Merov and 20% machine you are held in LA for that proportion of 2 minutes so;

A Zionite would have to wait 60 seconds for their respawn (total time absent from pvp 90 seconds)
A Merov would have to wait 40seconds for their respawn (total time absent from pvp 70 seconds)
A Machine could respawn in 20 seconds (total time absent from pvp 50 seconds)

This method directly targets the imbalance making the smaller unit able to replenish its forces more quickly!

Do away with all other DE, this also combats the inconsistency in the awarding of Cq's

If the idea of being disabled from pvp is totally unpalatable just apply the same method to the existing debuff vary its time in relation to the org split baissed to favour the smaller parties.

Yep, still waiting for the day that I disagree with you Tytanya.

I'm not sure how org balance will be monitored and fairly calculated, but the idea works in theory.

That wouldnt be fair to the non hostile servers.  The only way to fix the org imbalance is through recruitment.  If you guys would spend as much time in game recruiting as you do on these boards complaining about org imbalances then there wouldnt be a problem.

Of course, Zion allways has more numbers to actually spend on recriutment. Everybody wants to be the "good guy" eh?

Catch 22.

Then perhaps the servers should officially be treated differently.  Nevertheless, this is an idea to make the game better for all of us, and if you take exception to it then that's completely your prerogative.  It's not necessary to attack the integrity of the idea based on the comments of others however, this isn't becoming of you.

Recruitment is one way to fix the issue, but we all know that 75% of new players want to join Zion for their own reasons.  The evidence is in the numbers of players to each org.  Personally, I prefer to be outnumbered and hope that the machine org doesn't grow beyond recognition, a few more would be nice though.

I wish the servers were treated differently but from the what ive seen in the past I dont think they will go for it.

Yup thats correct, we just make thread after thread about how unfair everything is.

Recruiting is not the answer. How many new players actually read the RECRUITING thread? we put a lot of time and effort into posts, and personal websites. Yet...how many new players actually apply or even want to? most players scoff at the idea of applying...so are we to stand at Uriah NW and spam recruit to crew on every lvl 2 that pops through the HL..recruiting every noob that enters the game? That won't work.

What makes me hate this unbalance more than anything? is the fact the zerglings think they are better than us. Catch the vast majority of the nameless org 1v1 and they turn on the olympic sprinter ability or Hyper Jump grand master tree.

I'm with ex on the most part, however, theres being outnumbered and theres just plain ridiculous numbers...i mean does it look attractive to lowbies at mara c or uriah nw or wherever they find themselves to join machines/mervs when you see 3-4 zion shooting/knifing/punching/MS'ing to death? no, they'll choose zion instantly.

Why doesn't the tutorial talk about the three organizations?

They should throw in a little synopsis about the three choices in the tutorial.

If your not recruiting at Uriah then your missing out on lots of new recruits.  Everytime I bring a low level alt their with no faction tags I get tons of /t and greetings from recruiters.  Trust me it works if you try it and just because they are a level 2 doesnt mean they are worthless.  Its that kind of attitude that give you guys the low numbers.

Oh and btw I seem to be pissing off everyone today with my posts...i should stop posting on Mondays.
#36300073274 10/16/2006 14:06:36 Re:Org Imbalance and ways to deal with it

I'm not saying they are worthless. Far from it, however, why should we blindly recruit someone? Thats stupid...like i said, recruiting every noob to crew is not going to solve any problems.

I guess part of the problem is that if we recruited every single lowbie that popped through Uriah then we'd end up with nameless players and an attitude and calibre at the same low level of the General(not all) zion player who see's the whole zerg to win and mind of a 12 year old E-warrior persona.

*Edit*

Theres two sides to the coin... recruit every lvl 2 become numerous, become like zions.

Keep lower numbers be zerged, but keep our integrity.

You're not pissing anyone off, but these comments were unnecessary.  No one said anything about level 2's being worthless.  Regardless, it matters little, let's just focus on trying to make the game better for us all.  You never know, one day we may all be happy.
#36300073279 10/16/2006 14:09:54 Re:Org Imbalance and ways to deal with it
Most people start out Zion in this game. Now with the restrictions on changing org, I feel there will be even less new Merovingian and Merv players. Sigh.
#36300073283 10/16/2006 14:13:43 Re:Org Imbalance and ways to deal with it

Recruitment has absolutely nothing to do with it, anyone who is truely interested in the story will make up their own minds (and if we insist otherwise we will drive them from the game or else end up with a less than commited operative), but even assuming everyone recruited was equally the dynamic balance of the orgs will never occur except by an accident of time, hence the dire need for this system.

I dont understand how it will affect non-hostile negatively in any way, if fact in the scenario first muted it would only impact on pvp; pve would be entirely unaffected.
