Hello everyone,

I'm a long time MMORPG player who just started MXO yesterday.  I am having a blast so far, but I have a few game mechanic questions:

The first deals with grouping and level differences.  I'd like to know how that is handled here.  Is there a mechanic such as side-kicking or mentoring in place so that high level characters can group well with low level characters?  Are their level restrictions for grouping?  I'm looking to recruit a few friends to play, and I am wondering if I will have to make a new toon to play with them or if I can use an existing higher level toon without messing up their initial missions.

The second deals with contested mobs/loot.  Are there locked encounters a la eq2?  If not, is it a 'whoever does the most damage' system such as SWG that determines who gets the kill credit/looting rights?  What are the generally accepted taboos around contested mobs?  I have a lot of experience with eq2 and swg, and the general community attitudes differ greatly in those two games, so I figured I'd ask here to avoid misunderstandings in the future.

I thought I had another question, but it has escaped me SMILEY  Thanks for reading and any input you can provide.

There is no sidekicking or mentoring system here.  As someone else mentioend, the level of the enemies you encounter in a mission are equal to the average of the levels that make up your mission team.  If the highest level and lowest level team member have a large level range between them, the mission is going to be too easy for one and too difficult for the other.  This is fine if your only desire is to sit around in the elevator while being fed XP, but if you actually enjoy participating in the missions then you're going to want to stick around someone close to your own level.
