[Flood received this message from an Exile, who hoped to have it distributed through our network. My husband's stupid and arrogant lackey threw it away as soon as he'd read and failed to understand it, but I rescued it from his large pile of other people's now-discarded hopes and dreams.

This "Cartographer" is a fascinating man. I've heard that he is temperamental, but so are many of those with brilliant souls. Is he one of these? Will solving his puzzle reveal more about him and his motives? Or will truth pale next to the fantasy of anticipation? How delicious this new mystery is.]

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Roses are red, Violets are blue... Blue? Shouldn't they be violet? Well, that's of no concern to you. Your concern, primarily, should be on the colors red and blue. Take a hint, Jack, mix 'em up and hitch a magic carpet ride to parts you may know. Take a look at this little map, one of my masterpieces I crafted just for you:
Archived image unavailable: cartographer_grid001_b.png
All journeys must start somewhere; your second starts at the triangle. Let the man on the moon be your guide. Once you have reached the end of your trip, you'll have the keys to unlock the doorway to your final destination. A word of warning, Jack: even a simple route from A to B can turn into a monumental voyage.
Tell me, "Red Pills," where you wind up. As always, just for you, first past the finishing line wins a little something...
Interesting.
Cryptic as always, but still...Interesting.
Yay, more Monument-hunting.
Okay, the man on the moon is the first clue.
I think.
no not the frist the first has to be with red and blue or violet something like that
#36300036950 08/30/2006 20:33:34 Re:"Roses are red, Violets are blue..." - 8/30/06
I suppose we all know where the triangle is. But why would the first clue be our second stop? Maybe there is a Dev that has to do with space? Or...Maybe we should look for a bluepill with the last name of armstrong...
#36300036987 08/30/2006 21:31:25 Re:"Roses are red, Violets are blue..." - 8/30/06
The numbers along the sides are odd...
She pretty much directly says to mix up red and blue, when you mix red and blue, you get purple/violet. About the only places in MegaCity where purple is a prominent color are in some of the various clubs.
Depends on your angle when you start talking about 'The Triangle'. The Majesty Monument in Apollyon is a red triangle above a globe that could possibly resemble a moon, but at that same time, the Azimuth Monument in Moriah is a pretty obvious triangle, located directly outside of an area that is pretty obviously purple/violet.
My biggest problem, is that I can't make many heads or tails of the map at this point, but that could be caused by the fact that everything on my screen is starting to run together because of the sleep-haze covering my eyes... *CENSORED* addicting puzzles.
Out of curiosity, does it occur to anyone else that the "man on the moon" may be the one with a sense of humor?
if that were the case, I would think Andy Koffman (spelling?) were the "man on the moon" seeing as how he was a comedian and he was nicknamed that.
#36300037647 08/31/2006 13:21:32 Re:"Roses are red, Violets are blue..." - 8/30/06
Andy Kauffman is dead, he ain't helping with this one.
 I noticed a picture of Malphas on here with a Large moon in it? No clue....
The numbers on the border, with the arrows may be an indication of how far to move?
I thought to maybe place this over the maps of the districts? Don't know though...
I hate crossword puzzles. and this one is just like it.
 No words though.
Beautiful Persephone,
I will start to look into this as soon as I have a silent moment from operations...and yes your husband´s stupid henchmen should be dealt with...as we allways do.
I hope to see you on Vector instance soon...it has been so long since your sparkling eyes has gazed upon us, and your beautiful mouth has spoken words of decadence, but indeed it is heartfelt to see you are still...in 'tis game...as it is that indeed. Just a game.
Sincerely
The numbers are very confusing and don't make sense to me.
 But as its a race where in which you have to go location to location perhaps those are what need to be put into the puzzle but the question is monuments, places, sectors, or what if it is? You can narrow it down - only to broaden it further.
I wouldn't bet that its right cause lord knows it's lead me to the wrong answer - but frankly this is what i got and it seems right so yeah - its the annagram part or anything else thats messing me up. This is the second time i redid the puzzle and it still worked out like this for me.
 So yeah do with it what you will - and if you can see where i faultered please drop me a line.
Yeah well i've been toying with those letters the past two days between cyphers, and annagrams - i've only walked away with the ability to pronounce it as one word and a big head ache.
What im curious about with the numbers is which side correlates with what direction as in is the left side of the number border 'right' or 'up' and so on.
Well I'm stuck on the numbers.  The only idea I've had to translate them just gives rubbish.
We know that the numbers are given their meaning by the letters in the grid - specifically the letters that appear in blue boxes.  This must be so because otherwise we could just decode the numbers and not need to bother with vendors.  Conversely if it were only the letters that mattered then there would be no reason to have numbers at all, when clearly they're there for something.
This gave me the following:
 I   5616
 T   4646
 N   0105
 A   4654
 H   1261
 G   1141
 N   5541
 U   0605
 N   4451
 C   0100
 A   5010
Taken from the top first and going clockwise as indicated by the arrows in the corners.  It would be just as valid to start from another side and end up with say I 6165, T 6464, N 1050 and so on.  I should also note that I have placed the letters in conventional order, from left to right and top to bottom.  Since there are variations in the paths people can take to fill in the words, I ruled out listing the letters in any kind of 'path order'.
So it seems to me, the letters being indicators, the numbers encapsulate our message.  Just how to find the meaning behind them however is, for the moment, beyond me.  Hopefully someone will have some clues.
Oh and I really did think it was a Nursery Rhyme thing, I found several references to the man in the moon, one of which gave the direction 'south' and another gave the number 'nine'.
I'm guessing we need to go back to the text of the riddle and think from the beginning.
I had the same idea a long time ago altho i haven't finished it THEN last week I Tupidly-say deleted accidentally ABOUT 85% of my Kings of Never files which includes all the puzzles i'm woking on and the Graphics (psd files and all) i've done GONE before me.  So I have to start again from scratch.
