I'd like to present a problem and a solution.

1.  Problem.  I have the Awakening Shades from the server merger.  But they have lost stability over the months, and now they have a single big red dot, and three tiny green dots.  A perfect candidate for Repair, you might think.  You might think that but you would be wrong.  I have tried repair on it a hundred times, all to no avail.  I have most recently:

I am having a serious problem with repairing an item, the Awakening Shades.  Let me describe the problem, and then pose a solution.

Problem:  I have the Awakening Shades given out after the server merges months back.  Recently I noticed that they had suddenly lost stability and now they have a big fat red dot for stability and three tiny dots.  You might think this would be a perfect candidate for repair.   You might think that but you would be wrong.  I have tried to repair them about a hundred times, all with failure.  Most recently (i.e., today,) I tried it under the following circumstances:

-  With Reason at 30 (hoping this might make a difference)

-  Standing right next to a signal booster

-  Wearing a blouse that adds 1 to Write Code

-  Write Code and Repair Item both at Level 50

I have been able to repair numerous other items, but not the Awakening Shades.  Is there something else I could be doing which I am not?  I also submitted a bug report on this, incredibly with no response.

The Awakening Shades are prestige items.  Making them transferable or fixable will not imbalance the game in any conceivable way.  When I bought a Flaming Eye jacket way back when, it never lost any stability whatsoever.  And whenever I create an alt, this items appears in the inventory!  So do the Beta clothes!  Why not with the shades?

Here are simple, easy, practical solutions:

-  Make the Awakening Shades non-degradable, like the beta outfits.  Weren't they supposed to be this way in any event, especially there is no way in the whole wide world to replace them (unlike, I might add, almost any other items in the game)?

-  Make them transferable like has been done with some beta clothes, so I can send a pair from one character to another.

-  Make them transferable from one character to another, as long as the player remains the same.

-  Make them repairable.  Currently they are not.

None of these solutions would imbalance anything in the game.  Is there any reason that this could not be done in the very near future?

Repair Items in general is also an issue right now.

New items have up to 60 difficulty... with Repair Items maxed at 50, it's very hard to find any repair clothes. The Coder ability doesn't boost Repair Skill, and Satellite Dishes seem to have little effect. The only way to "repair" the new clothing is to decomp and remake.

Remember you can lose the item if you try to decompile it and then fail.

I havn't seen the level 60 difficulty stuff yet. Where does it come from?

Sugaree, may I point out, if it aint broke, you cant fix it.

That is to say you can't repair an item untill it actually breaks, red dot or partial dot doesnt count.

It HAS to be actually broke (black dot) with tiny dots left over.

You can repair and item with the large dot in any state whole or half, green, yellow or red. The small dot is the indicates  the number of repairs an item has left.

Some items are "unrepairable" and say so in small print when curser is hovered over.
