The problem with that is that LC2.0 only works as an Alpha Strike (much like Dev Field), no matter how much "damage" it does, the DPS still blows so it isn't really worth casting in a lot of situations unless you're really low on IS.

Dev field should be a AOE trump card, just like LC2 is a single target trump card. It should be something you rarely use, and does a helluva lot of damage.
How about making DEV FIELD useful

Yeah, to get 1000+ damage before resistances you'd need 120+ Viral Damage in Speed, or a little over 100 in Power. Not too hard to get really.
Full Auto Redux is the damage ability in a damage-centric tree, it requires a state, isn't AoE, and can also miss... if you're going to compare Dev Field to any Operative ability (which is a bad idea in the first place), take a look at Deadly Shot: the damage and IS effeciency aren't great, it has a half-decent stun-proc, but still isn't an AoE.
Additionally, the fact that Destroyer isn't a damage-centric tree makes it even odder to ask for Dev Field to have high damage. If you look at its sister tree Network Attacker, it has no damage abilities, but both have damage trees right next to them.

Actually no. I almost always play Patcher actually (Trauma Surgeon with some UA and FE at the momement). In terms of stuff I play besides that, sometimes Spy, sometimes Gunner, but mostly I'm always a Patcher.
The reason I respond to the Hacker threads is that:
The reason I show numbers, do tests is beacuse that's the only way to actually figure something out. When cryshal said "Dev Field doesn't stun anymore", I knew it did since I'd been hit by it, but I went and tested it and posted a screenshot.
When people said that Code Infection's damage blew hard, I tested it a couple times. There's a bug with it, yes, and I pin-pointed what was causing it to lose some damage (and also pointed out that CI4.0 needed a buff to be in-line with the other CIs). Outside of that though, it's an impressive ability, and I might be picking up the Ravager tree myself for it.
All the complaints about Viro being underpowered, I test them, and post my results, the numbers don't add up (in my eyes), but the numbers are there for you guys to use them in your own arguements if you'd like. If you think something's wrong with my methodology or style of analysis, tell me so, I'll be sure to take a hard look at how I do things.
Still, I feel that Hacker is quite powerful if used correctly. I agree it isn't Operative, but Operative has its own unique set of problems with the way it does things (and oddly enough, the things Operative has trouble with are the things that Viro excels at).
The reason I respond to the Hacker threads is that:
- A lot of folks expect to have the same damage dynamic as Operatives (as orginally), when the numbers don't support that. Viros have amazing IS effeciency and short cast times, and you choose to ignore it to be "just like Operatives" when you're best at fighting in a completely different style.
- As a Patcher, I don't worry about Operatives one bit, when I get interlocked, they're just an IS battery for me and I can outheal any damage they throw out. A Viro on the other hand, will probably outdamage my heals, and at the very least will outlast my IS.
- People are stuck on assuming the old combat dynamic of: Mez, Burst DPS, dead still work for both groups. If you want your overall damage to be like an Operatives, then stop trying to emulate them or compare abilities with them. It shounds weird, but you aren't meant to kill people like Operatives do. Operative and Viro are two completely different styles of combat. If you like burst DPS, then go Operative, that's what it's there for.

You're all more then welcome to reproduce my tests to see if they're accurate, that's why I go into such detail. What good is scientific testing without peer review after all?
I'd be more then happy to help you out in that regard or if you want to dicuss stuff with me off the forums: forum PM, IMs or ingame e-mails at "Recursion.Caladein". Whatever's most convient for you
