Well... The only issue with this is that your tree buff does not buff skills only as long as you are using that style, in my experience.
Thus, choosing the Kung Fu GM buff is a different tactical decision than choosing the Karate GM buff - they each provide different bonuses to the same statistics.
I normally run around as a Karate GM/Kung Fu GM on the test server, and I generally have my Kung Fu GM ability activated because it buffs my accuracy a little more. Now, if I am easily hitting an opponent, I'll switch to the Karate GM buff for the increased damage.
The buffs do take up hotbar space, but with twice as many hotbars to use, it really should be fine considering you can only load two trees to full capacity at a time. While I could see the system for this going back to the way it was, there is an important reason for having the buffs as they are.
Bottom line: Your tree buff is no longer tied to your style. You really can do Karate moves as a Kung Fu fighter.
