I think it had something to do with the many 100's of new CR2 animations that were added, and they just didnt work with the new system, or it meant re-coding them. Dont quote me on that, but thats what I believe was said.
I think the aikido wall move wasn't actually a kick. It was something like grabbing your opponant and sticking their head through the wall. Never managed to pull it of myself but thats what I heard.
I got a funny screen of a Karate wall kick once that made me look like Spiderman. I was wearing a red jacket, blue shorts and I caught it at a point where it looked like I was just stuck to the wall. Think I deleted it though.
It sucks that we don't have them anymore but there's not much we can do about it now. Except whine.
I just had an idea which I think is pretty cool. If they do bring back the wall kicks, it would be nice to see them as abilities we have now like Wooden Dummy Drill and Machine Gun Kick. But instead of the abilities being activated when a person is dazed, staggerd, or off-balance you would be able to use them when near a wall or environment object.
Umm, Actually, the new animations are just old ones, but lengthened. The finishers are new, but not many are. Karate DID have 2, and Kung Fu had 1. I kinda hoped thered be wall running and such on this game. I like the format we have now, but would enjoy more animations. Theres not enough live events to concentrate on LE content. and really, what other abilitay disciplines could be added? Maybe melee weapons. We'll see, eh? Anyway, I'm just thankful the CR 2 is better than the last style. Interlock is still a bit buggy, but I think progress has been made. But off the wall, and evironmental moves and interactions would be pimp.
Prior to CR2 the higher the level of Karate Master (for example) the faster and quicker, and more precise the attacks were culminating with Karate Grandmaster animnations that were outright vicious.
Now it seems they do not get progrssively more intense and at higher levels sometimes they are somewhat like self-defense.

I miss the old animations
Ok, could you translate that one for me?
I've made it to about level 37 before CR 2.0, and haven't seen any differences or improvements neither with tactics nor with abilities. And what looks like self-defense?
i miss the old off the wall's they where what made it for me, now its just combat theres nothing matrixy minus some abs that still have that feel but the wall kicks where special and rare. it was exciting when you got one. it made me sad when i heard they removed them. lets just pray they put them back in.
Yes ShadowSK you would be correct however the animator and engineer that were working on this at the time removed them for reason that were pertinent at the time. And as was pointed out... that is just the state of things at this time.
Examples of all the former wall moves can be found in the following (old) short movie. (I think I have them all in there. lol.) File Size: 7 meg. Running time: 3 minutes 26 seconds. Cheers!
Hmm; I enjoyed the video in all aspects (except the framerate), but the wall kicks seem to be limited to Karate. How about running up the wall and landing behind the enemy? Or packing his head and bashing it against the wall? I'd really like to see those from other styles.
