Time flies when you're looking for Anome's dead ex-buddies - Syntax - 6/12/06

Those cheat codes Anome stole are bad news, dearies, so far be it from us to sit around while he and his cronies uncork who knows what kind of rude wake-up call on our dear old simulation. When our spy network reported an access by someone believed to have been one of Anome's pals, we jumped at the chance to get in on the action.










And Anome's cronies jumped us, just as we jacked into Ueno to begin our hunt. They didn't put up much of a fight, darlings, but it was nice to know what someone cared.









The computer our network sleuths had been monitoring contained an email to a redpill by the name of Clandestin0. Our masked detectives found him almost immediately, and the sassy man, after wasting a good deal of our time, finally revealed the location of the business that our Anomite worked at as a bluepill cover.



















His boss, Jack Riverway, told us that one of his employees hadn't been showing up for work lately. It seems this absentee was known to run with a strange crowd at the west end of Kedemoth--there's a big abandoned building there, just next to the courthouse. Sounded simple enough; but on the way, a whole platoon of Anome's thugs decided to say hello. They kept us busy a good long time, but in the end, they just couldn't handle us.



























Fortunately, we got to our target in time. Or maybe I should say that someone else go to him first--but they weren't very thorough, and we found a data disc on his body.

this one is a little more complex.  tried the usual stuff, not getting anything yet.

You really should leave these investigations to the professionals, Veil.

I have no idea how the rest of you are deciphering these, but is it a little strange that every single row above ends in a 1?

It more then just the last row... Every eight bit is a 1 .. Makes me think of EBCDIC .. bu that is not quite it

So someone in another thread said that by adding 'timilU' and a comma,
you get something readable.  Obviously, a binary-to-text
translator is not going to read letters when expecting numerical input
- so the obvious answer to those first codes was that the first digit
didn't matter.  He wrote:



"timilU0,000100100100" and all that.  The comma separated the first zero from the rest of the code.



Looking at what that did, I realized that if you took the original
codes and just took the last 7 digits - usually zeroes - and pasted
them onto the front end of the code, you came out with the proper
decryption.



Go ahead and try it on all the others - ctrl+x the last 7 digits,
ctrl+v on the front end and run them through a binary converter. 
Perfect.



The code above, however, is a lot different.  It won't respond to
the 7-digit trick, even when you knock out all the extra 1s as Gami did
above.  I'm stumped once again.





*EDIT*

Looking again at the codes Veil found, each section contains one less
than a multiple of 4 lines.  Probably coincidence, but is it worth
looking into - trying to read them top-down instead of normally?

The guy who posted that just got lucky. the solution appeared to be much more simple than this. just a few typos as i explained in a post here http://mxoboards.station.sony.com/matrix/board/message?board.id=live_events&message.id=3878&view=by_date_ascending&page=2

As for this code pay attention to every 8th bit always being a 1 and every 2nd bit almost always being a 0.

In binary :-

regular characters including spaces including punctuation the 1st bit should always be 0
letters of the alphabet are defined by bit 2 being a 1 with bit 3 being 0 for uppercase and 1 for lowercase
spaces and punctuation begin 001

i believe this has some relevance see if this helps anyone come closer to a solution?
