Just a quick one, will the test server ever be used for anything else in the future?

It would be cool if some of the things that get messed about with in these patches is tested before hand (so we can see what they are :smileytongue SMILEY

What do you guys think?

I hope so, it would be a shame if they only opened it up for testing of the CR2.0.

It's a great tool to use for us to test future patches that haven't been finalized yet. The community could catch so many exploits and bugs that a limited Dev team wouldn't be able to in time.

Any word on this, NoRepro?

I think it will be used again as stated above with the new org abilties

However they will not keep it open all the time as then it costs money to run the server and costs them time to keep it running, time where they could be working on new content.

Which is puzzling, wouldn't they want as many people possible testing new patches? This way, more bugs and exploits get caught, thus less hotfixes and headaches when they pop up in Live.

HCFrog once stated that there were things that were wrong with the test server that they needed to fix.

They also apparently took the parts from the server and used them for other things :O So who knows!

As far as I know, each world server is made up of several physical servers. Rarebit mentioned once that he can't run the entire city on his test server boxy thing. My guess is that they repossessed the servers and stuck them into some other game that needed them, probably for a test of their own.

We'll get em back, someday.

well lets hope it doesnt open at about 6GB i whiped it off my system as i assumed it wasn't going to be used again. and if it does open for the abilites that means i cant test them SMILEY

I wiped the test server off my coputer to gain space during the test of CR2.0 i was able to d/l it again so i should imagine if they were to use the test server again for upcoming events then you will be given the opportunity to d/l it again.

Walrus has expressed interest in opening the server to test the org abilities! I wonder when we will get to!

i believe that it will be used for the Org abilities. However 9mm did state that there are stability issues with the test server and that its not always beneficial to keep it up, so thats why its not really open to test anything.

Like Walrus said about the E-mail bug it worked perfect within SOEs testing grounds, but once the update was released it didn't work as planned worse it blocked all e-mails

If you log on to the test server and some bug like that happens you can't whine about it because it's a test server and test servers are more open to bugs and bug caused instability. The fact it's a test server means you log on at your own risc.

It's up to the SOE team but I think a continuos open test server is good, it tests things out with mass users, without messing up the "stable" servers... Recursion has become more stable over last months Recursion stays the least stable server though, if anything leaks or goes wrong it's most likely to happen there...

Back on topic: They should open it we wanna help them make a better product... Only people wi.lling to risc getting annoyed by bugs will log on, bugs/sploits can be reported sooner as well

i hope they put the test server back up it was fun trying the new combat and being able to play with other peple from teh other servers

Any news on this test server from what im seeing the org abilities will be forgoten by the time they get it working.
