Following a discussion at mara c today wiht one of the devs, about the now useless tool program launcher, he said that there is no such thing as a special server item, no as far as i was aware, there was, and it was the tool launcher for vector, the health regen glasses for recursion, and something like tb6';s for syntax (could be wrong there)
He also said that the buffs were removed from the launcher as it was "a mistake" and yet the buffs still remain on recursions glasses.
Be nice to get some clarification on this matter?
Thanks.

I'm from recursion, and I've never seen the tool slot launcher, and I've been here since day 1.

The tool version of the code launchers were supposed to have been phased out long ago, during Beta, I think.

Somehow they still exist, though they shouldn't.

The devs have confirmed that there are no server-specific items. It's just a combination of coincidence, luck, and loot tables. All that will be fixed under CR2.0.

vector has tool launchers.  dunno about you other folks or those other two items mentioned SMILEY

Any official conformation anywhere, and i would like to see where any of the devs except no repro has said that there are no server specific items, or where they have said that there are, if the launchers were a mistaken relic of beta, why where they released in a previous patch? And why did it say that server specific items are 'now included and working properly'.

I said it somewhere, not sure where offhand... but anyhow, there is technically no such thing as a server-specific object. All servers share the exact same database and we don't have a way of putting different items on different servers.

What might have happened is that these items were on some sort of weird loot table that got changed since then, so someone on one server found it before it got changed and it never dropped again. Or, some fiendish dev created an instance of an item that isn't on any loot tables and put it on the marketplace. I suspect the first one more though.

The tool-slot program launcher is definitely a long-existing bug and was supposed to be dealt with a long time ago. I think it just slipped through the cracks.

First off...  I'm gonna have to go with the fiendish dev theory.. :p Just kidding. SMILEY

Second...  Why does it also equip those hacker gloves if it's a bug?
None of the other launchers do that and in addition to that... that's the only way you can get those gloves.
It has to have been purposely created for the tool slot...

Anyway...  I've noticed that the information guy in mara central...  you know.. the hacker named Potter next to the church.  He's wearing those gloves aswell..

The reason why it's a bug is that it's a remnant of an old system. Ages ago you had to have a program launcher equipped if you wanted to use any hacker abilities, and they equipped in the tool slot. Then the system changed and launchers went to the eyeglass slot... all except this one which got missed.

Aaaah...  Ok then. Good to know... and bad I suppose... But! The gloves look nice. SMILEY

Thanks for the clearup hcfrog, just 2 things, im certain, i may be wrong but im certain that these were releasedd in a patch, and it mentioned them in the patch notes.

And 2

Why not keep them?

I mean it solved alot of problems on the test server, stopped people complaining about is regen, or atleast let them do something, because i think its a  waste of a very good idea/mistake, and it will stop people keep compplaining about is regen, they are still in the game, just not buffed, just a few small buffs would mean that everyone would use them.

Thanks

nooooooooooooooo  plz don't take away my tool launcher!   it makes the massive IS usage of cr2 bearable. lol

My point exactly

#34900006896 03/19/2006 19:09:51 Re: Special server items and CR2.0
If this item has been nerfed, then we should get other clothing items' IS regen boosted. Even with 30 Vitality IS regen is still not great.
#34900006901 03/19/2006 19:28:17 Re: Special server items and CR2.0
Am I totally alone in NOT having IS regen problems?  I do have Widows Shades and Sakura Bandana, but is that the difference? I only have IS problems as a Utility Master running both Daemon Boosts while interlocked and spamming Firearms Skill.

Is it me, or my items, or everybody else?

Seraphim shoes + Sakura Bandana means that I tend not to have a problem. The only time I do is when I'm in interlock with both daemon boosts running. So I only tend to run Daemon Boost 1.0 which give the sims more damage.

I still want an answer to whether that's an additional 25 damage per hit or DPS, btw.
