First of all, I don't REALLY support holidays in the Matrix, by which I mean I play OOC during the holidays, as Void really wouldn't be caught dead throwing a snowball at someone. 
It's supposed to be a dark and scary place.
Kinda like Halloween, but without the masks, and with a lot more blood.
Anyway, as far as the Valentine's Day idea goes... It's got some potential, but I think we're being too narrow minded if we restrict the gift-giving from males, to females. What if a female wants to get a gift for her sweetheart, be they either male or female themselves? Likewise with guys.
