I was watching the news the last days and it went from bad to worse to catastrophic. My prayers go

to the people stranded there and those who lost family and friends

#34400000264 09/02/2005 10:16:04 Re: Hurricane Katrina

Again my prayers go out to the families and the people who have had to cope with this disaster, i hope that they stay safe. I know this isnt the time for blame ect, but the US gov have turned down offers of foreign aid this dosent make any sence to me. Id like to aplaud SOE for making atleast a gesture of support for the people in the disaster.

I hate to say it, but our government is doing a
hideously horrible job at helping these people. There so...so many
people dying down there, and they have et to begin sending them water
and the other essentials that they need. What's even more stupifing is
that the Actors and the generousity of our celebrities is kicking in
before the government is. They should be following the Government lead,
not the other way around.

This is just so horrifying. SMILEY

You are buying into what the Left is throwing around with out really knowing what they are talking about. I mean, this is the friggin United States...you really think they arent doing everything they can to help? Its not the fault of the local or national authorities, its not about racism against blacks... Everything is always someone's fault these days... look at that stupid 9/11 commission. Sometimes stuff just happens that noone can do anything about...

I mean, nobody can judge the "response" of the rescue effort at this time...especially those of us who arent there. There are so many variables involved in such a massive operation its really beyond comprehension. Yeah we see some sad images on the TV, but the media always focuses on the negative. As far as celebrities go, gee thanks for your incisive comments Kayne West... "Bush doesnt care about blacks". What a brilliant statement.

And VannerUK, *CENSORED*.

The problem is that as the wealthiest and most powerful nation on the planet, we've basically been revealed to be fairly ill-equipped to handle a catastrophic natural disaster on this scale.  The worst part of it is that we've known for years that a major hurricane would do exactly what it did to New Orleans, and the government chose not to spend the money to address those problems, instead spending it on the war in Iraq and homeland security in general.  Well, that's great and all, and we've been plenty safe from terrorism as a result...at the expense of those lives lost that could very well rival the number of dead from 9/11.  I think the reprisals are only just beginning.  Once the official inquiry begins, the current government will have a firestorm because of this debacle.

Still, that matter is for the future.  For now, the focus must be on rescue and recovery.  There will be plenty of time for recriminations later.

Wow, I gotta put my 2 cents in here! I have the greater part of my family and friends in New Orleans, and I can tell you this much right now.....The news DOES NOT give you the whole story!!! For instance: when a relative of mine was attempting to board up her hotel, and get out of the path of the HUGE STORM that was on the way. Looters were ALREADY threatening her life if she didn't let them in! Now as for the government aid. I work for the government. They don't _aid_ anybody. They give them just what they need to survive in order to get good press(also biased). The real story is that tourist that are stuck on top of houses are looters. The people that helicopters tried to help in the wake of Katrina were initially FIRED UPON!!! That's right, this is straight from eyewitness accounts. The 1st aid sent out to those who were trapped was met with bullets!

As a sidenote, I'd like to add that of course all of the people trapped are not looters and psychopaths. But the ones that ARE trapped, are trapped because of the people that they don't show you on the "news".

European Union is sending a sizeable relief...

My thoughts and wishes to all those who suffer and their courage is being tested in these dark days. There is no nationality or politics or religion in the wake of human suffering, there's only humanity united in the face of natural disaster. Let us all help those who are in pain in any way we can, and consider the monstrosities created in nature, due to the level of human intervention and violation (I was shocked to see a documentary on TV yesterday, explaining how these tornadoes have become so fierce because of the global warming effect).

I'm praying even for the New Orlean Zionites.

#34400000271 09/08/2005 02:32:10 Re: Hurricane Katrina
Please forget the politics, forget the finger pointing, forget what could have, or shouldn't have been done.  What the media (and all of us need to do) is focus on the now and what it is that we can do for these people now.  I've been debating back and forth of how I can help, I mean I really want to get down there and jump in feet first to start being a positive in sorting out this problem.  Well I live in Portland OR, it seems that we will be getting some of the people that are left homeless and have no place to go, as they are moving them all over different parts of the united states.  A lady came in to my job and made sense in saying "stay here and help where you can in their actual lives now, cause who's to say that when this government rebuilds NO that they will give those people their homes back".  Get your history they've done it before.  Now I have no family in Louie but, my god it has hit me pretty hard what's going on down there.  I mean it sounds good to say you've got my support but there's people dying daily over this catastrophe still and proper help is only slowly pick up with the need.  It's times like this that frustrate me about the world because theres so many people standing back trying to figure out who should have done what and why aren't they doing it like that or this, they never think to get off there *CENSORED*'s and take care of what they can themselves.
#34400000272 09/08/2005 02:34:19 Re: Hurricane Katrina
Sorry but I really feel strongly about this I may not know anybody down there but these are my people and thats what it means to have support for your country I don't care what color they are, when in need help and F all the side line 5hit!
#34400000273 09/08/2005 03:33:41 Re: Hurricane Katrina
It must seem ironic to many that a nation which can
transport four hundred thousand troops (with all their attendant
equipment) halfway around the world to attack Iraq cannot even help its
own people on its own soil. The politics of the Bush administration
have made the world's greatest nation appear like a Third World
country. What an embarrassing mess! Let us all pray that the Mayor of
New Orleans is wrong in his estimates of the possible casualty count.
#34400000274 09/08/2005 04:34:40 Re: Hurricane Katrina
Correction the Bush administration IS making us a third world country............have you seen our defecit lately? (and its getting worse)!

Everyone,

I was born and raised in New Orleans for 34 years and as of two months ago, I moved my wife and 4 month old son from New Orleans to Virgina for a new job.  I have been splitting my playing time between MxO and SWG and now since the merge, I am playing both again.   This is also my first post on these boards.

I want to say "Thank You" to all of the people that sent condolences and prayers to all that were affected by this storm.  I have friends and family that are still missing.  I have three relatives that have lost their lives and of all that have been displaced, they have lost everything.  I can say that it is comforting to hear everyone coming together if just to say a kind word.  I am not there physically but my heart breaks a little more everyday with the endless stream of bad news that is incessantly broadcast.  I don't want to play the blame game at this time.  Right now the people need help.

To everyone else that has also lost someone in this tragedy, my family's thoughts and prayers are with you.  Be strong.  Have faith.  May God bless us all.

St Bernard was hit especially hard.  The best man in my wedding lives there and still can't get to his house.  His was one of the houses you described that was washed off the foundation.  Understandably he is taking it very hard.  My thoughts and prayers go out to you, BlacknMild.

Kind of ironic, I am watching the Monday night football game which is dedicated to raising money for Katrina...and they keep interrupting with updates on tropical storm Rita.
(I am in south Florida)

#34400000283 09/22/2005 05:11:28 Re: Hurricane Katrina
**bleep**ing hell Katrina's big sisters coming out now when will the madness stop it's gonna be a category 5 and katrina was only a 4 jesus theres gonna be nothing at all left now, the experts were saying that it will destroy the land before a category 5 gets there with just the power of it's wind and nothing else.
#34400000284 11/09/2005 21:15:25 Re: Hurricane Katrina
Well im from florida myself, so i can **"kind of relate"** (note the
emphasis on kind of thats to make it clear im not claiming to have
survived a hurricaine as brutal as katrina was to new orleans but i
have a general idea about hurricaines.)

to the devastation of hurricaines and tornados spawned during or just befor or right after a hurricaine.

so my prayers and best wishes to everyone who was caught in this terrible disaster
