OOC:
Hello folks.
Not that I am too much into
PVP, but as I have written on the old Linenoise forums a few months
ago, I do like PVP-enabled RP which eventually leads to RP-enabled PVP
(or short: RPvP). I need a
background / motivation why my character fights as opposed to senseless slaughter in
Mara C. :smileytongue:
To
have a nice RPvP for all parties involved, we talked about rules before
we started recently. This thread is about such rules. The OOC babble
about what is allowed and what not in this or that particular fight is
a bit disturbing when the tension already rose to the point of no
return. ... Uhm... I could give a more detailed
real-life example but seeing that there are also underaged
MxO'ers I think I'll skip the part. Bet you know what I
mean. The purpose of such a RPvP Conduct is to move into
action faster. I imagine to have several opt-in game modes so that the
declaration of rules before a battle only says "with hacks, no rez,
with heal, (..)". Best would be if we could decide for a "default mode"
that applies when no opt-in's are declared explicitly.
Oki-dokie, here goes my proposal:
1. No Hacking
Hacking
is considered unmatrix'ish by the greater part of Syntax' RP community.
You never saw Morph, Neo or Trin throwing Logic Barrages at one of
their foes. Fighting the Matrix style resolves to these two things:
"Guns, lotsa guns!" and "I know Kungfu" (Feel free to replace Kungfu with your favorite MA style). In RPvP, no hacking is allowed, especially no area effects and if for no other reason then because you hurt your allies from other orgs as well. RPvP works only with guns and fists.
2. Reconstructing / Ressurection
When you die, the fight is over for you. You can /reconstruct (or wait for the timeout) and can of course return to the battlefield but you are expected to stay out of the fighting. Don't flag and use /mood hurt
to indicate that you're unable to intercept anyone. Your character can't really
die thanks to the EJP, but reconstructing is a painful process anyway:
your mind is very talented in making the pain real.
3. Area Chat
During the fight, no OOC chatter in
area please. In fact, talk as little as possible. Don't expect anyone
(read: me) to pay attention to the chat window anyway when I am in the
middle of the battlefield.
4. Healing
If desired, those involved can agree to not use self-healing code (e.g. Möbius) or health pills.
Personally, I don't have anything against Moebius as it has a fair
re-use timer. I'd like to think of it as some kind of dirty hack of
your character's operator onboard the hovercraft.
5. Patching / Buffs
People should agree about the use of tactic boosters. As a proposal: the Force Enhancer tree is allowed (non-area effects). External healing / patching is not allowed unless stated otherwise.
I would vote for a default mode like this:
- (1): as stated above
- (2): as stated above
- (3): as stated above
- (4): Default is with Moebius Code but without pills.
- (5): Default is no TBs, with individual FE abilities, no healing / patching.
Now I am interested in you comments / additions as well as your /sign replies. I have another idea about an IC-novelty of the EJP, but this will follow at another time.
So long,
Carsten
