Well, no. If you don't want to RP then don't engage in conversation with anyone who is obviously in character.

Certainly, in many RP situations cetain factors will have to be discussed OOC - not everything can be decided as it goes along. But planning is such an important part of RP, I figured that aspect of being OOC was taken as read.

Don't worry, I know what you're on about. 
I agree with you that consent is necessary, but I didn't for a moment imagine anyone doubted it. Does this sort of thing really happen? Do people make up plots about people without their consent? If they do that strikes me as very rude and inconsiderate.
