Video Problem

Hello TSRs,


This past week my laptop got reimaged and before then, the following problems did not occur.  Since then, I've downloaded the latest DirectX version and this is what happens now, as soon as I jack in:






and it keeps switching between the 2 and 3 pics most of the time before one of the following happens:


1) blue screen of death appears real quik with some notes on the top which flash to fast for me to register, followed by an auto reboot of my laptop  - or


2) it just gets stuck and I have to press the power button down until it shuts off


***Now I cant update my video driver to the latest from Dell because it causes other problems on my lappy - so thats out of the question ****


So bottomline, it worked before the reimage and now it doesnt - so it seems like something I had in my C drive that made it work is now gone....

And after we fix this one.....


I constantly crash in interlock, maybe 2 out of 5 times I engage in combat, I either get stuck which is ok cuz I can always get recalled or /jackout but more often than that, I get stuck and unable to do anything in my laptop, to the point that I all I can do is hold down the main power button and reset....


its becoming a big problem and very frustrating to deal with....


anyways, after my video problem is working, I hope I can also find a cure for the other....

Have you tried updating your graphics card drivers as well?

Went to the Dell support site to see what version they had up there but couldn't tell.

You could try going to this page and downloading the file and installing it to see if it makes any difference. SMILEY

Well, that was my first action but look again at my original post...for some reason, whenever I get that very same driver, when the comp restarts and goes to windows, my resolution is all wacky, real big....


so I think, "ok, I will just change my display settings to change the res right?"


wrong!!!!!  as soon as I right clik on deskktop and clik on properties, I get the blue screen of death and it reboots...then after a while I cant even get on to windows cuz a system32 file gets corrupted and it leads to my laptop having to go thru windows repair...


so I dont know whats wrong, I have been playing since March with no graphic problems and now its acting up since the reimage......

Last night, I reinstall MxO to see if that would do anything so at first I get a error 27 on the launcher and then I deleted the mxo folder and reinstalled again - went thru the looooong full system patch...and was able to log back in......but now.....my mouse wont even move (most def a vid problem) and when I jack in, my screen looks even worse and I was forced to do a hard-shutdown....


Any help would be appreciated

The screenshots are either reflecting a video driver issue, heat issue,
or a hardware issue.  When you had your laptop reimaged, something
could have been damaged.  It's been known to happen.  Do you
have any other 3d intensive games that you play?  Have you tried
them out?

I just wanted to say I got it working - I went to the dell website and instead of dowloading the latest driver, which was giving me more problems, I downloaded a driver just above the version I had, still old, but newer..and it worked!!!!!!!!!!


Thanks for your help again - now I just gotta get all my settings the way I want them again and get my hotbars back..but I may have lost them during the reinstall...I know theres a thread talking about it so I will go check it out...

so I had mentioned that I also crash all the time...before it used to be in interlock, now its anytime...and I am not talking about getting stuck, I mean my laptop freezes, mouse freezes, and I have to hold down the power button to restart the computer.....

Not sure whether this will help or not but you could try it if you wanted.

Load dxdiag up (Start-->Run-->dxdiag) and then click on the sound tab.

Change the slider for hardware acceleration to low, press apply and exit then try running the game again and see if the problem occurs.

If it doesn't you could try the process again but increasing it to the next option and see if it occurs again, if it does then put it back down to low.

If it doesn't fix the problem then just put the hardware acceleration back up to full.

Hello Bill, thx for getting back to me - this is the deal - No, its not the latest driver for this family because when I install the latest driver, my laptop does not accept it too well and it causes a System32 error which will prevent me to even get to Windows.  Right now I am using a driver that is about 2 versions back, in order to prevent the above problem.

That version is the one that causes System32 problems - if I go on older version, in the link below:




There are 4 versions there, the last one on the bottom is what I had originally - with that one, my mouse cursor is stuck at login - then I went to the one above it, dated 8/20/03 - and that is what I have now.


I have not tried the newer ones, from 2004, and 4/2005 because I am afraid the System 32 problem will happen again....is this only suspect you think?

I now have windows XP professional and while I thought my problems would be gone, they have gotten worse - now I crash everytime I jack in, after 2 minutes.  I can stay in the Loading area with no problem, it only happens if I jack in.

to review things - I had windows 2000, and it was playing OK - my harddrive crashed so I got a new one installed and they (my work) installed XP professional.


I have installed the latest video card driver and the 3 previous versions as well, just to be sure...


none of them work
