I am getting about sick of this game rebooting my machine when I exit..  what the hell is going with that ?  This is an issue that needs to be resolved...
#12400005244 10/04/2005 00:54:50 Re: Machine Rebooting
First, can you post all the info requested in this
thread:
http://mxoboards.station.sony.com/matrix/board/message?board.id=techsupport&message.id=37.

(Couldn't get the hyperlink to work, meh..)

Second, post your system specs, including the wattage of your power
supply, because I doubt the game itself is your problem.  When a
graphics intense program is run, it often sucks a lot of power out of
the supply.  Inadequate voltages going to the mainboard can cause
reboots.  Something to ponder.

Four things to check first.

1.) Update your video drivers.  You can use this link here to
download the NVidia Forceware Drivers:
NVidia Forceware.

2.) Update your sound card drivers.  You can use this link here to
download the newest Creative audio drivers:
Creative
Soundblaster Drivers
.

3.) Update your motherboard chipset drivers.  You can download the
motherboard specific drivers from your motherboard manufacturer's
website, or you can get the generic VIA drivers here.

4.) Can you post specifics about your power supply's capacity (300
watt, 400 watt, model, brand, etc.), sometimes a power supply that is
insufficient for the power needs of the computer can cause reboots.

Your power supply appears sufficient in both capacity and quality, so I
doubt this is the problem unless it is defective.  Have you
updated everything above, and if so is this still occuring?

does a bluescreen flicker before it restarts?

if so you can boot up in a way to make it pause on those machine errors, and i can diagnose it from there

Hey, it can happen...today at school I was switching an old power supply for a new one, when I went to test the new one nothing worked...the thing was toast right out of the box...but that doesent happen often SMILEY

when exiting, the game appears to be shutting down properly, I get to see desktop for about 1/2 sec's then the reboot happens..   no blue screen of death, no error mssg, nothing...  And as to the question of my PS being bad..  it had occured to me, but since I have played many other games and this is the only 1 that it happens on, I can safely say that this is not the case...  I can replace this 1 with an older 500w PS I have to test, but I have the feeling it will still happen..
