Signature - How do I get it to work?

I put the url in the signature with the [img] tags and it wouldn't show up... (it just showed the url in my sig, not the picture) then I did it again without the [img] tags and it did the same thing, of just showing the url for my signature...... but not the picture. Why is this? How are we supposed to get it to properly display our signature picture?
