Spoke with my ISP, and they apparently block 10000 and 11000, they said they are not common gaming ports, however, if i move to a static IP they can open those ports. (for an additional fee of course).
Im curious though, why I could play the game before, before transitioning to Sony? were there changes made to the ports?
Does what they are saying make sense?
Thanks again in advance for your help.
It is essentially Sprint DSL, in Pennsylvania.
I actually pay an independant, but the DSL is sprint.
My Isp gave me a static IP, and opened those ports, it still doesnt work.
They said theyll open em all for me, and we can trace what ports the game needs opened, they are in process of doing that now.
Guess we'll see.
Im downloading AIM right now, will also grab these others you suggested, hopefully you are on now. WOuld love a hand with this.
Thanks Mennis/Saraie
installed Avast as suggested, found 8 trojans that McAfees didnt find...nor stop...cleaned system, tried again...still no Matrix...
thinking...oky maybe still corrupt files...ok...BANG...rebanging windows...clean install, almost done now...
we'll see what happens...

nope...didnt work, reinstalled windows....still cannot connect to the game, get the same "cannot reonnect to the margin server" error.
and im cresting the boundries of my patience.
unfortunately, no, I can connect dial-up though...
I tried the netstat thing, and it shows the ports opened for the patcher.
Somone mentioned a proxy? That a real pain in the butt? or something I can do?
If the ports are blocked at the ISP, (sprint) wouldnt i still not be able to get on even with a proxy?
any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks all.
Greetings friends...
Time for an update..after all this time i finally got to somone at my ISP that knew what they were doing. My isp, contracts DSL through sprint...and they run a firewall...my ISP had the ports blocked. Im able to finally...after all this time...just today...actually log into the Matrix

Im considering starting all over on a new char because Im all confused now lol.

I'm adding this topic link to this thread:
http://mxoboards.station.sony.com/matrix/board/message?board.id=techsupport&message.id=8065
It contains the up-to-date list of port requirements for the game (in and out), as there are some outbound ports that the ISP may be blocking as well and not all these ports are listed in the official documentation, and some that even the CSRs wern't aware of.
