(im able to switch to dial up and log in fine, so its my DSL modem i believe  thats keeping me from getting in on DSL)

The documentation, and sony say i need to have open TCP ports 80 10000 11000 and UDP 11000.

(they said the patcher is UDP, and i can patch just fine, and that the game is TCP, and i cant get there)

Heres my issue:

My modem allows me 2 choices, either:

-Port Forwarding Ranges of Ports. (Forward a range of WAN ports to an IP address on the LAN)

or

-Trigger Ports. (Forward a range of ports to an IP address on the LAN only after specific outbound traffic)

If I choose port forwarding, Im asked for a global port range ____-_____ and a base host port, and then i can choose TCP or UDP.

If I choose Trigger POrts, Im asked for a Local 'Trigger' Port Range ____-____ and a Global Port Range ____-____.

which of the two do I use, and what numbers do I enter? I asked sony and they said open 1024-65545 but if I enter these numbers into any of these choices, it says 'Invalid Start Port in your range".

please help

Thanks for your response:

Im not really sure how to go about doing that...forwarding 10000-11000? I dont know what the base host port is?

In my modem config:

If I choose port forwarding, Im asked for a global port range ____-_____ and a base host port, and then i can choose TCP or UDP.

(other choices in modem config are in above post)

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Spoke with my ISP, and they apparently block 10000 and 11000, they said they are not common gaming ports, however, if i move to a static IP they can open those ports. (for an additional fee of course).

Im curious though, why I could play the game before, before transitioning to Sony? were there changes made to the ports?

Does what they are saying make sense?

Thanks again in advance for your help.

Well its only supposed to be another 5 bucks a month or something.  But at this point its my only real alternative, if for nothing else my email addys been the wsame for 4 years, and Id hate to have to change it.

Seeing as this is only an issue with Matrix, im hoping to god that its gonna be worth the extra 5 bucks a month on top of the other charges.  Community to me is everything, so I hope ya'll are being friendly in there.

I can get in dial up though lol, i logged in and it wasnt "too too" bad if im just socializing lol

So, if my ISP is blocking any of those ports, theres no way I can bypass that?

It is essentially Sprint DSL, in Pennsylvania.

I actually pay an independant, but the DSL is sprint.

#12400001809 08/23/2005 11:38 Re: Port Forwarding Please Help

My Isp gave me a static IP, and opened those ports, it still doesnt work.

They said theyll open em all for me, and we can trace what ports the game needs opened, they are in process of doing that now.

Guess we'll see.

#12400001813 08/23/2005 12:07 Re: Port Forwarding Please Help
well...that didnt work.

My ISP opened up everything for me....and i get the same error message.

Any suggestions before I cancel?

Really hate to, really wanted to play Matrix again, but they did everything they could over the last 2 hours with me, and nothings working.

#12400001818 08/23/2005 13:19 Re: Port Forwarding Please Help
sony blames the isp, the isp blames sony...and i guess i dont get to play matrix, unless i use dial up, or switch to another isp, and switching isp's wont guarantee me anything either apparently.

well...(sigh)

dissapointing

nope...didnt work, reinstalled windows....still cannot connect to the game, get the same "cannot reonnect to the margin server" error.

and im cresting the boundries of my patience.

#12400002113 08/26/2005 11:32 Re: Port Forwarding Please Help

unfortunately, no, I can connect dial-up though...

I tried the netstat thing, and it shows the ports opened for the patcher.

Somone mentioned a proxy?  That a real pain in the butt? or something I can do?

If the ports are blocked at the ISP, (sprint) wouldnt i still not be able to get on even with a proxy?

any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks all.
