Greetings all
I've been enjoying my trial period of MXO for the last week, and I'm seriously thiinking about buying the game in the upcoming future. I was wondering though if I could get some information first to make sure that it will be worth my money. You see, i'm a veteran of two or three other MMOG's (Everquest for six years and change - and Dark Age of Camalot for two years) and i've found one thing true with each of them that concerns me with MXO; the end game. It's hard to explain my view the reality to massive online games when it comes to this. I've found it's a nessacary evil that really determines the outcome that a player takes to his/her charecter. Let me explain this a bit clearer. In Everquest the game is all about this end game. You spend an ANORMOUS amount of time leveling up to get to X level so you can play in this ellusive end game. The difficulty with this is that Everquest is constantly upping the maximum level and tossing out new zones/bosses in an effort to keep it's base. What happens then is that just about the time you think you've finally gotten to that "perfect level" suddenly your ten more away and you must spend the next six + months re-grinding to get back to where you want to be. Take it from me, it's incredably frustrating to do. So much so that after almost seven years of playing I deleted my account that I spent so much time on. The other MMOG that i've played; Dark Age of Camelot was in my opinion, better, but still suffered from the curse of the end game. In DAoC the end game is purly PvP (Realm vs Realm). What this creates though is the ability to custimize your charecter in a multitude of ways, but in reality you are very constrained to what you can do if you want to see this end game (i.e. you cant get into the RvR with a toon thats not set up "just right"). Now, while I have never looked to this end game play as the reason for me to join the community (i'm in fact more attracted to the low level/mid level gaming where the fun is in exploring new zones and areas in a classical "dungeon crawl" feel. However I do recognize that at some point this end game will inevitably effect my time online. I would like to know then, how do you see this aspect of MXO played out? Do you feel that it (the end game) defines your online time or do you see it as the opposite.
The other question I wanted to ask was the day-to-day online time. So far I've played pretty much everyday for the last six days MXO, and I've come to determine that much of the time spent in game is doing missions. While this fun for me (I haven't looked for any other type of experience gain other then these missions) I wondered if that is all there is? In other words, am I spending sixteen dollers a month to do these missions each time I play?
On a more technical note, I found the link to updating my account information so that I can begin payment of my montly account fee, but is there a link anyone can provide me so that I can update my game from trial version to the full version, or do I just have to buy the game in a store? (If thats the case I find that incrediably ironic that you cant digitally download this particular game
)
) Thank you for reading this overly-long post, and for your replys
