Certain places on the map are called "town", and are mostly called "plaza" or "courtyard". Although they're even so important that they've marked on the Atlas, I just don't understand what it means. Or what the differences to the "plazas" is.
"Towns"?

There's also one of these "Town Centers" in Edgewater. Go there, it's like a vacant parking lot next to a warehouse. Definately not very townish.
Ironically, I was there today, and that experience finally inspired me to point this question

Not court, no plaza, no vendors. I just don't understand what this icon is supposed to mean.
Maybe its supposed to show a good meeting place?
The idea that world design had for these was that they were equivalent to towns you find in traditional fantasy RPGs: places where you can find vendors, and chat with people without having to worry about wandering monsters.

Unfortunately, we don't have much in the area of wandering "monsters". There was a time when npcs would really chase you pretty much forever. People used it to lead tough enemies to low level areas where they would then kill innocent new players. Then, there was a fix and npcs would only run so far, this my friends is the day the evade bug was born.
