I hope this is the right forum. If not I can move it. I had a question that hopefully someone can answer. I am a lvl 17 Martial Arts Initiate, but I also have the coder tree. My question is, I have everything in the programmer tree leveled up to 17, but my write code ability says only level 16. In other words, even though I have the level ability, I cannot code level 17 abilities and such. Has this happened to anyone else? Is this a bug in the game, or is it natural?

Thats strange. You must have write code at level 17 for the programmer abilities to be level 17. Maybe there is something which is downgrading your write code by one level.

To code any abilities above level 15, you need to load and upgrade the Ability Maker ability. The same goes for weapons, clothes, tools and consumables.
The Coder ability can be upgraded now up to level 50, but anything above 15 is used for the bonus of the coder style and not for coding.

Oh yes of course I was thinking that was for when you want to code abilities at level 25+ when I was probably thinking of red frags because I think you need to start using them to code at level 25+.

Red frags are needed for anything, from level 20 an onwards. Basically, the interval levels are as follow:

I seriously doubt that Write Code is useless for crafting after level 15. After all, it still shows the code crafting bonus on higher levels.
Also, I burnt a patch fragment today because my Write Code was at level 15 (I was trying to code a level 36 ability on level 3. I've upgraded it to my character level and succeeded.
I don't know exactly how Write Code and Ability Maker work together, but you need to upgrade both of them to successfully craft abilities.

Where do you get the crafting abilities from... I'm on Syntax and I can't find em on the market.
And what the hell is cryptography for?

You can get crafting abilities from a coder vendor and the cryptography tool is used to decipher a message in code to english so you can understand it.

This ability is used only as a requirement to advance in the coder tree to upper levels, but really worthless for anything else. Just upgrade it to the minimum level required for the next coder layer. It will save you info.
