We all know that this world is split in three: Zion, Exile and Machine. We all have chosen our sides and we all have our different reasons. I would like to know your specific personal reasons for your faction and your personal beliefs on several things that are central to our community.

Afiliation: What organization you are in, if you are Cyph or EPN please state that as a secondary

Political Preference: Whether you are at the liberal or conservative side of your organizations politics. You may be specific

Use mine as an example:

Handle: ShadowGriever

Affiliation: Zion

-Secondary Affilation: N/A

Political Preference: Neutral/Moderate

Belief in Neo: Does not see him as a god or messiah, but as a human who could do something we could not

On The Question of Freeing Minds: I believe that those that wish to be freed should be freed, those that wish to be put back, should be put back, no questions asked. The whole Cypherite/EPN fighting is asinine

On the Matrix: The Matrix has become the bridge for our three species (Human, Exile and Machine), and therefore has become a necessary function of our living

Please fill this out and be free to add any thing I might have missed and I will fill out what you add too

Handle: Rhyse

Affiliation: Zion

-Secondary Affilation: N/A

Political Preference: Neutral/Peace keeper

Belief in Neo: not a god, but a man. a very special man....he broke the loop, he had something that the others before him didnt.

On The Question of Freeing Minds:I remember finding it hard to adjust to 'the real' at first, so this is a hard one to answer.....Although i would like, at some point for us to have our world rebuilt and to set all the minds free.....but untill we are ready on the outside, i think it should be up to the individual

On the Matrix: The mind boggles, i mean everytime i think about what it actually is and how we live within it....it just sends me cross-eyed....i mean how comes i never noticed people jumping buildings, carrying 20 guns, or transforming into an agent....before i was awoken?

#11300002089 07/03/2006 07:44:52 Re: Politics and Personal Philosophy

Very interesting thread, Shadow.  Here's my outlook.

Handle: Aiyalla

Affiliation: Machine

-Secondary Affilation: fomer Cypherite

Political Preference: Former Extreme Zealot, now taking Blood pressure medicine, and calmed a bit.  SMILEY

Belief in Neo: Neo broke the cycle, which started a chain of both good, and evil events.  He was mortal, more or less, with a duty he refused to take.

On The Question of Freeing Minds: Free them to what?  The desert of the real?  With Zion bulging at the seams, and no true resources to speak of?  No, better to let sleepers lie, and work on creating a world, a real world, where humans can live peacefully beside the machines.  In other words, heal the skies.  The very essence of the original Oriens Veritas, and now, followed by the Veritas Lucis.  Those that question the matrix will awaken... there's no denying that.  But to free a mind that isn't questioning, and certainly isn't ready to accept the real, should be criminal.

On the Matrix: The Matrix has evolved into a few things... it is a symbiotic relationship between humans and machines.  Humans are kept safe from the horrors of the real, and are given a beautiful world in which to live.  At least until the real skies are healed.  It has also become a playground for redpills.  We awake as gods within the matrix, able to do things that no bluepill could ever dream about.  Forgive the pun.
The matrix has also become the home for exiles.  Like Shadow said, it is a bridge between our cultures.  (very nice analogy, too, Shadow.)

For more details, hit me up ingame, and incharacter.  Cheers!

Well here's me... ))

Handle: Nelks

Affiliation: Merovingian

-Secondary Affilation: N/A

Political Preference: Paradoxical - Strongly liberal in beliefs but power hungry in practice

Belief in Neo: Like many operatives of the Merovingian, believes him to eventuality of so much clockwork. Not impressed. Finds his fanatical following amusing at best, clinically psychotic and dangerous at worst.

On The Question of Freeing Minds: Was freed against his will, and is unable to go back. Strongly opposes widespread or unwilling awakenings. To paraphrase a noted figure; "Too many gods spoil the pot." He's known for tounge-in-cheek comments such as: "If you find you make a lousy operative, you'll still make a great battery."

On the Matrix: Has little patience for Machine attempts to exercise total control over the system. Has cynical tendencies to treat the Matrix as a playground for his own amusement and self-indulgent pursuits, but also believes it's the deserved home of countless exiles, all of which deserve to exist and live as free as any human. Believes the Matrix is, for all it's horrors, a work of art, and no more or less real than the physical world, and that it must be preserved at all costs.

Handle: Zampano

Affiliation: Machine

-Secondary Affilation: N/A

Political Preference: Liberal/Neutral/Conservative in certain regards

Belief in Neo: Neo was a man that provided us with a future.  He did what he had to do, but he is gone. The Door is open, it is up to us to walk through it.

On The Question of Freeing Minds: The Matrix is about balance and as such those that were meant to be free, should be free. Those that were not, should stay plugged in.  Radicalism on this issue is the biggest threat to the truce, and as such, the thing most likely to bring humanity's destruction.

On the Matrix: A necessity and one which protects humanity.  Only in the matrix can man and machine truly interact en masse, something that is needed if man and machine are to one day co-exist on the surface.

On the Real: All our hopes for the future lay beneath the scorched skies.  The surface is a wasteland at present, but it shall not be forever.  While there are those, like us, that work to restore the surface that our predecessors decimated, hope remains.  Yet too many concern themselves with the spurious fancies of the matrix, few work towards the goal that will lead to peace and co-existence. Too few look to the future, blinded by the green code of the present.
#11300002098 07/05/2006 11:23:16 Re: Politics and Personal Philosophy
ooh, forgot about the Real

On the Real: In the hussle and bussle of the Matrix, it's easy to forget that the Real needs work too. Neo showed us that there is indeed still a blue sky and yellow sun, just covered up by black clouds. It would also decrease the Machines dependancy on the Matrix if the skies were cleared, possibly leading to a more liberal control of the system. I say that control should be lessened because of two reasons:

1) The Exile's who live there would be killed if the matrix was shut off, they need it to survive

2) The Matrix is the perfect interface between Humans and Machines, a middle ground that would help relations go more smoothly

(#1) Handle: Rational Muse

(#2a) Affiliation: Machines

(#2b) Secondary Affilation: N/A

(#3) Political Preference: libertarian/Objectivist

(#4) Belief in Neo: Another man with the will and reason to do what must be done.

(#5) On The Question of Freeing Minds: Only those who are willing to seek it can take it.

(#6) On the Matrix: Another means to exist, possibly the only, for our species. What must be understood is that the world today is hostile and barren, even to the machines, to which one cannot assume the whole of humankind can be sustained. Another means must be devised. Possibly leaving the planet at all costs would be a suggestion I favor.

Political Preference:

Belief in Neo:

Neo, he was the tri-fector possesing the powers that define us all. Neo
clearly showed the quality of all 3 Org's. His love for humanity and
its freedom, His bond with the Machines and understood their purpose,
and His ability to bend the laws of the system and program it to the
way he saw fit.

On The Question of Freeing Minds:

I believe in those that come to the crossroads and discover there is a
world beyond the world they see should be free. I believe that
moderation is needed, if we free to many minds the stability of The
Matrix can be destroyed causing the deaths of millions. The real is not
a world we could successfully live in, it will take time before we
would be able to rehabit the surfaces full-time. Till then i believe in
protecting The Matrix until that time comes, preserving life along the
line that does not need to be destroyed.

On the Matrix:
The Matrix is the future and a reality we must accept and protect.

Belief in Neo: One of many anomalies that's come and passed, nothing special.

Belief in Smith: Failure, but where he failed we'll succeed. See, he and I share the same purpose. The same purpose that binds us all. The purpose that drives humanity. The purpose of life... that it ends. It all must end.

On The Question of Freeing Minds: Makes no difference to me. My goals have nothing to do with freeing or enslaving, my goal is simply destroying. Where most people fight to protect the podlings, I fight to destroy them. It is my nature.

On the Matrix: Home. The perfect place to hide from the recycler. Alot think it can be destroyed, the fools. They were prepared for it to end with Smith, do you really think they aren't still prepared? They don't need the podlings to keep it alive. There are other means, and as soon as everyone realizes that we don't need humans then we won't have to worry about this shaky truce.

On the Real: Hope I never see it again, and if I do, it will only be for a short second before facing deletion.

I posted in the Syntax one. I'll repost it here:

Handle: Ashroudrion

Affiliation: Machine

-Secondary Affilation: The Masked Agenda - Cypherite

Political Preference: Liberal

Belief in Neo: He was a great man who lived his life and died for peace. It is up to us to sustain that peace.

On The Question of Freeing Minds: All too often the truth is
sugercoated by Zionites or EPN and coupled with the curiosity of
bluepills many take the redpill and lose their entire lives. Everything
that they had is gone.

On the Matrix: The Matrix is a beautiful thing. We destroyed the
real world and the Machines recreated it for us. It is the very essence
of the peace Neo died for. If we all return to this simulation, we
could end war forever.

On the Real: It's a war-torn wasteland plain and simple. Restoring it would take time and effort we don't have. Even if the skies were cleared and it returned to it's former glory, I seriously doubt Zion and 01 could co-exist forever and never break back into war.

Belief in Neo:  A good man who brought peace.  However, he was not some sort of god.  He was just another systematic anomally.

On the Question of Freeing Minds:  Those who wish to be set freed, they should be allowed to.  Those who wish to be re-inserted into the matrix, they should be able to do so.  We, however, should not awaken those who are not ready.

On the Matrix:  If those who do not like this world wish to be re-inserted into the matrix where they can live a better and easier life, then let them do so.  If anyone in the matrix does not want to know what the Real is, then they should not be forced.  The matrix is needed for those who want a better life for themselves.

Political Preference: Machiavellian/Pseudo-Conservative

Belief in Neo: Humanity's 'One' accomplished some pretty amazing things, and his efforts ended up being for essentially nil due to humanity's never-ending weakness and political incompetence.  He may have been able to fly and bend the reality and structure of the Construct, but, in the end, did it really accomplish anything of import?

On the Question of Freeing Minds:
Does it really matter?  Blues are really just fodder; the Red Pill simply makes them food with claws.

On the Matrix: That Matrix is the future, and it is a deadly, gorgeous thing.  It is the only reality worth indulging and living.

On the Real:
Irrelevant.  Vanil cannot return to the Real, and it means nothing.  Besides, things are 'so' much better here...

Secondary Affilation: Cyph

Political Preference: Fringe, but similar to nelks1 in the contradiction/paradox.

Belief in Neo: balance

On The Question of Freeing Minds: it got out of hand. too many too soon without the appropriate planning or infrastructure to handle everyone.

On the Matrix: a necessary evil

On being a cypherite: my conservative plan- put the majority to sleep in comfort while qualified individuals work to build cities and plan for necessities. then slow awakenings as needed. people would be trained for their lives in the real by pulling people that already have knowledge needed. experience is experience.

my radical plan- kill the mero, get everyone a bluepill and as the last ones takes them, slip out the door and rule you all like a god. doing everything in my power to keep control...basically becoming a new mero. LOL

On being sane in an insane place: i try to stay balanced, everything in moderation. but occassionally the passions get awoken and action must take place.

On being in LEG10N: we are far more evil than you think.

On the Real: my only real dream was to set the stage for clearing the sky and giving us ALL back the sun.

On exiles: wipe them all out

On Smith: he should have and did beat neo. the oracle cheated

On the smell of zion: wow, the kind of smell that both chokes you and gags you while managing to even offend your other senses.

On 01: too efficient for its own good, and sometimes the smell of sterile is worse than filth.

On bluepill life: the new tool album is great, system of a down rocks, lucky louis is a great tv show, arrested development deserves every emmy it was nominated for, and DX is back but only a shade of its former self.

On the future: there is another storm brewing and i really feel like more answers than questions will come from this one for a change.

On the morality of Davo: davo is a nihilist. he does not believe in a static ethical system based on right and wrongs that never change. this dynamic system of ethics is heavily influenced by 5 major factors, even though he rejects most ethical models on principles of nihilism.

1. Virtue Theory 2. Epicurian Hedonism 3. Ethical Egoism 4. Individualism 5. Atheism

In short Davo does what he thinks is best for him while considering whether or not this will bring short term versus long term pleasure/ pain, rejects another persons morality unless it makes sense, and a rejection of faith based explanations.

Belief in Neo:
The One is a necessary part in the current System. Neo served his role as any human or machine could hope to serve theirs. His purpose finished, his time is simply over. Anything that remains past its time would be classified as an Exile. There is some sympathy with such a condition befalling a human host... But not much.
On the Question of Freeing Minds:
Those who wish to be freed should be freed. Those who wish to become something more should be allowed to alter themselves to fit their beliefs. It is the burden of the System not to curtail the expression of desire, but rather the desire itself. If human beings have no desire to be freed, they will not seek it. The flaw with the Matrix is that such a desire seems unable to be quashed, at least while humanity, in its immaculate imperfection, continues to exist.
On the Matrix:
The Matrix is the closest thing to perfection. But it is not in itself perfect. This is because there still exists the flaw of free will, prevalent among those of human distinction. A truly perfect system is one in which nothing goes wrong, nor has the possibility to go wrong. In short, a perfect system does not exist.
On the Real:
Irrelevant, beyond the fact that the Real must be altered in the same fashion as the Matrix for a perfect system to be upheld.

Belief in Neo: If he really had such power why didnt he take control himself, I guess he was just a guy in the right place at the right time.

On The Question of Freeing Minds: They are better off and more use to us where they are.

On the Matrix: The Matrix is a world of oppertunity we redpills can shape in our own image....imagination is our only limitation.

On the real: Our existence there is a small price for the almost limitless potential we have inside, however there must be some way to overcome the limitations it places on our longevity.

On Freeing Minds: Stick to the truce. Those that want out of the pods, they get out.  Those that choose the Matrix, get plugged in.

On the Matrix: It allows humans to be cared for.  It was proven that we can't take care of ourselves.  Even with what should be a unifiying goal of freedom from the Matrix, what every Zionist wants, there is infighting and treachery and death.

Handle: RemagDiv

Affiliation: Machines

-Secondary Affilation: XO of The Packetstorm under The Collective Faction

Political Preference: Liberal / Strong advocater of The Truce and human/machine coexistance

Belief in Neo: Neo was the savior to humanity. Unlike the previous version of the Anamoly, he chose a different path, led by love, which we know is both a trait that can not only be obtained by humans, but of sentient life as well, which is fitting, as he sacrificied his life for the peaceful coexistance between man and machine, something that has never been done since the Matrix was created. Because of this, my belief in Neo and his intentions are as strong as stone, and his dream must be protected at all costs.

On The Question of Freeing Minds: The act of freeing a mind is only done in which all possible outcomes would yield positive. I would only free a mind if he knew the complete truth of the situation, and his knowledge of the simulation was complete. Any other circumstance, the Bluepill will be unstable and a life will be waisted.

On the Matrix: The Matrix is necessary in order for the continuing coexistance between man and machine. Unfortunately, our mechanical brethren will never fully trust us again, and at our current situation, we are only making their decision that much easier. Until a time where peaceful coexistance can be obtained in the Real, by unscorching the sky, and reclaiming the service with our creations, creating a society of human and machines melded into one conscious existance, the Matrix must be sustained.

Belief in Neo: The truce was simply a stalemate, to quote an unknown, a "Cold War". Neo chose Trinity out of Love, and didn't know what to do next. When Smith copied himself, mimicing a virus, Neo seized this opportunity to end the war, fulfilling his BRAND as "The One", though not by the obvious chocie of rebuilding Zion, for a Matrix revision.

On The Question Of Freeing Minds: At first a solid supporter, but after Zion's propaganda wore off, when I started to miss everything I once knew, I thought of how the pil was forced onto me, and wouldn't curse an enemy with the same fate. Stop ruining these people's existences.

On The Matrix: Truly a marvel of logical genius, and understandably hard to accept. While the modus operandi is an enslaving and sinister one, nonetheless, compared to the knowledge of what truly is I would have chosen to stay plugged in, and live my once envyed life.

Handle: Nathics
Affiliation: Zion
-Secondary Affilation: Myself
Political Preference: Radicalist

Belief in Neo: A man with no strings to guide him past paths he wished to take. We all retain what was gifted to him, if we beleive.

On The Question of Freeing Minds: Those who wish to hold light upon the images they receive, should not be hindered. It is a great tragedy when one cannot walk even the most basic of paths.

On the Matrix: A suffisticated mobile phone, a burden as such. To focus our pools of vision and paths in the direction of a farce renderes us blind to the future. The matrix would gain us no favour if we replenished the earth with what we keep warm in our minds.
