ok now we don't have to worry about posting on rarebits thread.

Ononism, while a great philosophy and very admirable can also be hurting Ghost and his power. But I guess since Ghost is a sexual being I don't see the harm in it because he has made himself very powerful indeed.

The reason why I say this is because I've learned of a very dificult path to walf that is much more rewarding in terms of Chi. I learned it while reading a book on Tai Chi and was amazed even by the concepts of it. If you know anything about Tai Chi and the build-up of your Chi force around the pelvic region then you might understand this concept. Instead of releasing the buildup of Chi (as in Ononism's "release" if you know what I meanSMILEY) you hold it in and don't even go that route. The more you are able to hold out and not release then you build up more Chi force. In this book it described how this is beneficial....stay with me here cause it gets cool in a second now that I've gotten through the bad stuff.

Now, Tai Chi is the worlds most defensive martial art. Taught purely to use defense as offense...not unlike Aikido but even more. With it being so on the side of defense its strongest move happens to be the most deadliest move ever known to man which is the Yin Yang sort of relationship. I can't remember what its called but its a one strike blow that uses this buildup of Chi that I described above.

This buildup of Chi is amazing and they went later into other metaphisical stuff like using it combined with meditation to, in a sense, become immortal. But I'm not gonna get into that...I don't think you guys can handle it...heheSMILEY

For Sykin:

Ghost in Enter the Matrix video game revealed that he loved Trinity. But because of his philosophies and that he's a really great person he let her go to Neo because he realized that Neo and Trinity were meant for each other. But still he loves her.

Because of this he now practices Ononism which means instead of loving someone he's given himself up to life and "god" and has become a sort of monk. A monk that cannot marry or have sex. In order to "relieve" himself of sexual temptation he pulls off a couple...so to speak, so that he gets rid of the urge.

That's why Trinity said, "we need to get you a girlfriend Ghost" SMILEY

but because of his dedication to a higher cause the Oracle also recognized him for his ideas and heart. "If we get through this I hope the future is made up of people more like yourself" - oracle (not an exact quote)

Persephone also recognised this as well when she kissed him..."oooo unrequited love"

I'll throw a few colloquialisms in for Sykin as well.

Shake hands with the one eyed Milkman
Choke the chicken.

Forget it, I think he get's the idea...

But as for Ononism itself, it has, as we've seen, made Ghost a powerful person, and a wise and intelligent First Mate. But as I said, there's discrepencies in there somewhere. I don't claim to know Ononism inside out (just what i've been told) But it seems a principle like that could possibly make on cold, harsh, uncaring perhaps?

I suppose anyway...

well I deleted what I wrote before because it got really into som crazy stuff...and wanted to test the waters, so to speak.

ok...

in the book a man lived to be 200+ (can't remember exactly) because this form of meditative coma slows down the aging process kind of like stopping your body in time. You look and appear to be dead but you're actually in a deep meditative coma. In order to perform this you need to be extremely rich and have very devoted followers because your life will be intrusted to their hands. Now the book just talked about the powers of Chi and the stuff you are able to do with it and really didn't get into specifics like directions or anything but this is what they said about how to do it. You need to lay down in this state and have your followers move you constantly because of the problem of bed sores and circulation of the blood. But you do this in sections kind of like how in Underworld the Elder Vampires take turns in hybernation.

no not really, but he does have longing in his heart...and that changes a man.
#11300001540 01/15/2006 08:03:47 Re: Ghost and philosophy discussion (cont. from dev thread)
Interesting as that kind of builds upon the thought of 'He gave up his love because she would be happier with another man' kind of deal.

EDIT: Or, rather, he loved her so much that he wanted her to have what she wanted, and that was Neo.

Funny analogies, though. I pretty much understood the situation; we're all sexual beings, hah. Even Ghost and his monk-ness.

yup. his understnading of many philosphers is also another reason why I like him the most.

In case no one has said it yet..."Ononism is a hands on job." SMILEY

Sorry. I've never had to spell it before SMILEY

I do hope i don't get flamed to hell over this or bombed to death in my own mistake, but i was under the impression Ghost's feelings were for Niobe, and that's why he followed her and fought with her, and the unrequited love was about niobe, since it was her he spent most of his time with in enter the matrix.

I know there was the scene where they fought (trinity and ghost) but i didn't catch any sexual tension between the two, and with the line about the girl friend, i thought it was more of a friends stand point as opposed to something so cruel as to tell someone who loves you they need to find a girlfriend.

I don't know, i wasn't sure, but this was the idea i had retained from what i've seen and heard.

/dropbombs
lol just kidding SMILEY
No, Ghost is in love with Trinity, but she doesn't know. She is just friends with him, which is why she wants to find him a girlfriend. Ghost cares for Trinity so much, that he would rather she be happy with Neo and never know about his love, than tell her and possibly ruin her relationship with Neo.
Niobe was with Morpheus and now is with Locke.
#11300001555 01/16/2006 20:58:23 Re: Ghost and philosophy discussion (cont. from dev thread)
well she did know...
the line right before the "we need to find you a girlfriend" which is in response to the very respectful "thanks" from Trinity in which she convey's her respect for his feelings and that since he loves her so much to let her go. And isn't it very common for women after rejection to offer to help find them a girlfriend...oh, maybe thats just me cause I'm a loser SMILEY.

/Also drops a bomb.

lol joking.

It is Lock without the E.

Anyways, yes Ghost is one of my favorite characters because of his ways and the fact that he owns.

Ghost is up with Neo and in my favorite characters list (don't actually mean that literally as a list, lol) along with Mouse. To me he was the best character. If I could meet anyone in the game of high importance or hero or however you would want to refer to it, it would have been Mouse. He only died because the Agents had to be cheaters and had to go along changing things in The Matrix. :smileymad:
