What neighborhood did Neo live in?

What neighborhood is that Adams Street Bridge in?

While I'm at it, which club did his friend Choi take him to when he met Trinity?

It's not in the game.

I don't even think the idea of the Mega City was born when the first movie was made -- it seems to take place in Chicago. The Adams Street Bridge is most certainly also a real location in Chicago, just as Wabash and Lake is a real street there.

Back then they just called it TheCity. As in Heart O' the City Hotel. They filmed in australia but hid certain buildings that would make it obvious it was that particular city in Australia. They wanted it to remain an unnamed City.

To rephrase my questions to translate to the game, what neighborhood do you think Neo lived in and why?

See anything what could resemble the Adams Street Bridge or the other landmarks not provided in game?

See anything in the movie that would suggest what club Neo met Trinity at?

Well, I didn't say it was explicitely and purely Chicago, but people recognized familiar locations (and location names) in the movie.

His apartment wasn't shown from outside, so I think it could be everywhere -- I just wouldn't bet on Chinatown. SMILEY

Neither the Adams Street Bridge, nor Metacortex had to be in his vicinity -- it could be in a neighborhood we know, or in one that isn't in the game at all. At least that's all I can see.

It does remind of the street tunnels a bit, although it's not underground like those and there's no level change or border between the pedestrian way and the road. There are other places where streets just proceeds beneath a bridge / elevated road (in Downtown mostly), but without the arc.

Apart from lighting / textures and slight equipment differences, there are only three types of clubs with exactly the same structures and two outsiders (or maybe I've forgot the one or other club, not sure). In the club scene, I don't see anything looking like one of the clubs in the game -- the people there cloak the scenery.

Well, the MegaCity we are supposed to be playing on was supposed to be a lot larger and probably more accurate. Why it was never completed and just smushed down is not mentioned but I do believe it was because when Sega left The MxO project because they panicked when they saw that the sequels did not make it to a broader audience since the sequels were more intellectual and not for the passive audience.

Stupid Sega. :smileymad: :smileyvery-happy:

Woreku, Sega didn't leave the project, they published the game. The company that quit out was UbiSoft.

MXO Archives explains that many of the landmarks are not in the same places they were originally seen in because after the end of the final Neo/Smith battle they reconfigured the entire city. That's why the government lobby is now in a Kalt building and why the Hotel is on the other end of the city instead of being in relative running distance. So several places have been wiped out completely and changed from it's original place.

Nope, Stack said he made that up, his own explanation.
