#10800069972 06/02/2006 16:15 an idea for pvp with a purpose

i put this post on one of kryticals threads about death effect but ended coming up with what i think is a good idea. so i made this post to get vectors opinion since pvp on our server is a lifestyle more than just somethin we do when were not..well..doin anythin else. its mainly addressing the pointless pvp we engage in all the time over these usless things called cq's.

if the devs could implement a purpose for pvp to make our lives more important and our deaths more of a hinderance then the problem would be solved. im just gonna brain storm here so maybe somebody smarter can use my ideas to make them make sence.

instead of cq points how about we have a % of our effectivness in pvp shown in our player details. the % is caculated by using the amount of kills we have, compared to the amount of times we have been killed and somehow add in the amount of time spent alive between kills.

a kill is defined as the player who puts forth the most amount of damage to kill another player. period. so the zerg may zerg but only one of those players will get the cq. and if the damage is somehow spread out so thin there is no way to caclulate it then nobody gets the cq.

this way good pvpers who kill often without dying so often will have high effectiveness %

the safe players who die seldom but get fewer kills will have meodicre pvp effectiveness %

and the weak pvpers who seldom kill and get killed often will have low pvp effectiveness %

to even further branch this idea it could also be based on class. for instance. in your player description box

there could be sections for each class with a % by it. somethin like this

hacker 22%

patcher 48 %

martial arts 89 %

spy 12 %

coder 1 %

data miner 99 %

this would be visible in everybodys player details and not only would it allow true bragging rights to good pvpers. but it would also make many strive to up their effectivness % in other classes so you might see much more variaty in pvp. many different types of builds would be in use all the time rather than all ma or guns or knifers all the time.
