The Matrix Online.
I believe that liscencing movies into online games is great. It is a storyline that the public already knows, understands and enjoys. The Matrix Trilogy itself ended the way it did for a reason. Much as V (from V for Vendetta) stated at the end, " I have taken this far, its up to the people to create the future" summarized. The people within the Matrix should be making the future of story. As many believe, this is not happening.
This is what it comes down to is creating a new system of online gaming. A system that meets the standards of the old time online gamers of yesterday, the newcomers of Today, and the youngsters of tomorrow. Yes, at this moment, I could not be any more vague.
The demand for Power Gaming versus the demand for Casual Gaming has always been a fundamental issue in online games, and sadly the Instance system released is not being used to its full advantage. You go to an npc, pick up a mission and go through your haunted house and survive. Rinse and Repeat.
This enviroment is in reality, a Paper Street. No named streets mapped out randomly with buildings that have no such power or relevance. The Enviroment IS our playground. An interactive playground-not a maze. It's true we want some cheese. But what we are given is rotten, stale, and far boring. We should be getting something fresh and remarkebly different. What we need is an enviroment that we can destroy as well as create.
Online Games are not public forums. Forums are great. But what is in the game stays in game. So what is the answer then?
Bring the rest of the world into the game
The Matrix itself is a world. A continual round the clock system of news and blah blah blah. We are players with leaders, whether they are players like ourselves, or NPCS. The standard GM events are not efficient displays of a leading storyline; especially with liscencing a story such as the Matrix when the characters have shifted the course of story. Without these characters, we as players are not feeling a part of the story.
A game system for the past present and future gamers.
Casual Gameplay that meets critical challenges for a High End Team.
Enviroments thats interact with players and vice versa
Online Events that become seamless to normal run tasks/quests/missions.
Bringing the community together deeper into the game.
This is Article 1 of Paper Street.
Next Issue will focus on soley bringing Casual vs High End Gaming.
