ok how do you get the stars?

Yes flame me as a noob but as you can see I have very few posts so haven't been posting long. I was just curious what the stars mean and how you attain them? I realize I will be flamed to hell and back for htis but if I can get one person to tell me the reason it will be worth it lol. Peace
