#10400152516 07/17/2006 05:39:56 The Positive Thread.
If there's another one of these threads, if a mod would be as so kind as to merge them or something, thanks. :smileyhappy:

I'm basically writing this thread because lately I've been very annoyed with some of the things been said across the forums. Now don't get me wrong, I love the fact that this community has an open voice, but sometimes we don't have an open mind. :smileysad:

Recently the archive missions and archive mission rewards came out and everyone was excited, with good reason. Everyone got on with the grinding and eventually came across the rep bug, now this was great because immediately people started discussing things and finding work arounds because more than anything, they wanted the rewards at the end and they didn't stop to get angry about it. :smileyhappy: That's great and there should be more of this happening in my opinion.

The troubles arose however, when the rewards started being collected by numerous people across all servers. It became a race and the fun and point of the rewards was lost, in essence. And then people began scrutinizing them for every little bit they could. For example:
  • "Zion got shafted" with the beret.

  • "Machines got favouritism" with the earpiece with 10% IS Regen.

  • "Mervs got a horrible coat" with the blurry demon army trench. (This is yet to be determined as a mishap on the design side of things, something about mipmap)
What many people forget is that, and I think Cloudwolf did say this in another thread, these items aren't meant to be uber buffed items, more aesthetic rewards or mementos for the chapters. There's also the fact that every 4 chapters I think they said that new rewards will be coming. It annoys me that so many things that the devs put hard work into are constantly bad-mouthed because they don't fulfill one persons or one groups needs.

What I guess I'm trying to say is, how many of you actually take a look around the game and absorb what's been put into it? How many of you actually take a look around all the districts and say "Wow that's pretty cool"?

That's the second purpose of this thread really, I would like all of you whenever you have a spare moment in game or whatever to go and find something you really like and can comment on positively. Just One
That's all I'm asking, I think we'll find from lots of people posting all things that they enjoy, that collectively as a community, we'll appreciate all the work that's been put into this game and also into our community.

Please don't flame in this thread, it's purely for positive comments and criticism. So please just post one thing you've found and comment on it, feel free to add a second comment for perhaps improvement or whatever :smileyhappy:

Thanks very much :smileyhappy:

You're the shining beacon of light in a tiny, dusty closet with no electricity and a very questionable warm wet thing on the floor.

Thanks D. Or -D or whatever. SMILEY

Indeed. The scrutiny is somewhat pedantic.

Nice thread, mon ami.  Keep smiling.

I think the Zion complaint is a bit warranted, given that, on the 1 - to - Cool Scale the Commando Vest Combo ranks right up there at Frosty!!11 with the Machine Shades, just would've been a better option IMO.

The Merv coat will be fixed, so I don't see the big worry about that. Quiet down peoples!!

And the machine earpiece ... well ... what everyone expect? Surely that's the only reward you can give? SMILEY

Something positive:

The sheer awesomeness of Downtown on a good graphics card.
Seeing Morpheus again.
A White Maris Shirt and Vest Combo

I can't understand any serious complaint on the rewards as we can all get any or all of them....now if I had MY way the rewards would have been org specific and you would not have been able to do another org's crits without being delevelled 49 levels and having all items removed from all your accounts (in fact I'd do this to people who have alts in different orgs)...... Personally I think people get too soft a ride, treat em mean keep em keen :p

Oh come on, I avoided saying "shallow" for that very reason.

Well, incidents like these make me doubt if the Devs were right to include these rewards at all: players start grinding and chasing in order to get those little rewards for bragging, and forget the only true purpose of this feature -- the storyline review.
It almost upsets me imagining how Rarebit's put all those critical missions together, and some of us just chase through them for the rewards -- he could've aswell put some one-phase standard missions instead, some just wouldn't care.
But yea, those are just some players, not generalizing anything. :smileywink:

Positive aspects?

The music.
The sheer awesomness of... all four districts with good graphics.
The sheer awesomness of interlock combat when working properly.

I'll just leave it on this, temporarily.

I can't believe nobody said this before but... the reason why I lik this game and its contents is because its the F***ing MATRIX. I mena who cant love this game. Devs FTW. Good thread Drag.

Yup, positive thing about this game: the fact that it's based in the Matrix universe. That more than anything else is why, even now, I don't intend to leave.

Plus, the Devs we do have are enthusiastic about getting this game on form. It's just a pity we don't have many of them.
