By "tem" I meant "team".  It was really just a test.... really.

I don't know. We could all be up the code stream without a keyboard if it went evil on us.

I guess that's just what happens when those items lose their purity... :smileyindifferent:

Nowadays if we want to gank someone we just load up Ookami or Seraph (well, he does polite ganking) or somebody like that and hop in Live, where people can't seem to get enough of being ganked by those characters.

Yea for real. Ookami is such a ganker lol. Well i think i deserved it but... thats besides the point. It also took me 3/4 of the way into the little fight to realize it was all a distraction from what the merv was doing. *kicks self* Next time I'll also have silver bullets MUAHAHAHA! ......a stake LMAO *inside joke*

Anyway my question is:

Why, oh why, are there rarely any live events anymore? You have to bring us live events otherwise too many players will leave of boredom. I think you know this by now, but it would be nice to hear what you are saying about this.

An while im at it, what do YOU think would be the thing that prevent players from leaving? Whats your idea of it, so to say?

That has been asked and answered before, and the answer is more or less that we no longer of the services of a large, full-time Live Events Team. All the events you see now are run by members of the development team--with the help of the dedicated players in LESIG ("Live Events Special Interest Group"SMILEY--during time that we manage to take out of working on game updates.

Rarebit,

Since there is no longer a LET and apparently no plans to add one in the future, are there any plans by the Devs to allow players to participate in the story line again?  And by "participate" I mean something more than critical missions, the occasional movie character played by an overworked Dev, or static elements like Crypto's boxes.

Before you say "future release question", I'm not asking for specific details.  I would just like to know if the Devs recoginize this as being needed for the game.

Why is it that we cant be a child (I know that it easier to leave the matrix when you’re younger) or so said Morpheus in The Matrix... And why is it than Sati is the only child in MxO.... Also why are there schools and playgrounds and a baseball court when there are no children in the game?

Are you ever gonna continue this Cryptos storyline or keep leaving it in the dust like you have for a month?

You don't even know what chapter 4 is about yet, or what it'll have in store for us.

O thats right i totally forgot about that.  YAY for the continuing story, i've been dying out here!

Warner sold the game to SOE, along with the dev team including all the devs you've seen post here, like Walrus, Frog, Archon, Oar, and myself. SOE liked the project, thought it would be a good complement to their existing Station content, and felt that they could turn it into a profitable, continuing game.

Ouch!

And I thought indentured servitude wasn't legal :smileywink:

when r they gonna revamp the data mine tree now that its getting some interests again? altho after that bad issue with what happened  the other day.... maybe adding some agents showing up so we cant stay too long from dataming as it would be more matrix-esque... there's a thread somewhere about this...

Well how hard could it be to get her rights?  And Ghost's for that matter.

If what Anubis said was true, then it might be a little tough to get Niobe's.  But what about Ghost?  Was there a problem with him too?

Its just really disturbing seeing them that way.  It makes me sad that I can never see Niobe the way she looked.  :smileysad:

#10400138408 02/06/2006 15:11 Re: Ask the devs an MXO question
I've got a good question, but with my schedule, there's no way I'll get it in on my own.  If anyone would like to ask for me, it would be appreciated.

In the MxO Fanzine, Paul Chadwick mentions the following:

"There's even one player who will get to appear in a cinematic we have one mapped out so that there's only one path he can follow.  Once somebody does that in gameplay, we'll use the character he's built and plug him into the cinematic we've otherwise already prepared." [sic]

Was this planned to happen in Cinematic 3.1 when the Assassin was killed on the barge?  I wonder how that would have worked with multiple servers.

Sadly, Rarebit's posts here are becomeing few and far between.  Which leads me to this.  If anyone gets a chance to reply to him and dont have a question to ask, could u ask mine?

"Are the Succubi's dresses ever going to be fixed or are they supposed to look like that?"

Thank you!

#10400138747 02/15/2006 20:36 Re: Ask the devs an MXO question
While I'm sure every developer hopes their game will be a resounding success, I think it is fair to say that with MxO a certain level of success was expected and even planned for.  Unfortunately, this level was not achieved.  What in your opinion were the reasons behind this?
#10400138754 02/16/2006 09:42 Re: Ask the devs an MXO question

Rarebit wrote:

I seem to remember, perhaps not too accurately, that there was a hitch in rolling out the story at first, too, so we sort of got held up on chapter 1.2 for a very long time, which gave people the impression that we weren't going to be following through on our promise of having a central, evolving story.

I didn't think about that at the time.  Guess I was too busy leveling, but looking back, I can see there was almost a two-month gap between chapters 1.2 and 1.3.  After that, the schedule was followed fairly closely, until the LET was gone.  Looking forward, I'm glad future events will be sticking to the official storyline.  While I enjoyed the LET events (Nightfall, Choice & Consequence, etc.) very much, introducing all of those new characters, in addition to Paul's, was a bit overwhelming.  I can't wait to see what happens next.

#10400138839 02/17/2006 13:14 Re: Ask the devs an MXO question
hey rarebit wot do u think of the idea of customising the way the operator looks or at least making a different operator for each org or maybe even having subtle changes in personality depending on org in operator dialog in all missions, not just critical ones?
#10400138847 02/17/2006 13:40 Re: Ask the devs an MXO question
ya it is a pretty minor cosmetic feature.. in terms of the fiction though i would think that the operator would stick with the crew, so presumably the operator u got when u started out with zion would be different from the operator u had if u were thereafter recruited into a merv or machine crew.

having zee as an operator would have been coo. i think someone on the operator customisation thread showed that perhaps by tinkering with the innards of the system folders u could actually switch her image with the link image. (and really how weird is it that "link" is yr operator when u go merv or mach?

btw, whoever did that kind of music editing for the 4 seconds interlock mood changes is a master of music soundtracks for games. does it have anything to do with the 4 second interlock since technically the music can change moods in the middle of the battle?

I'm not an expert on the EULA. It just changes the picture on your own UI element, and isn't being used to gain an advantage. It also seems less iffy than passing around, say, a full pblip file, which I always thought was an exploit, but which nobody else I talked to back at Monolith seemed very much concerned about. But again, I don't really know. EULA questions should go through Customer Support or /ccrs.

Is there any way we could get or Groups back on our buddy lists? So that we could seperate factions/Organisations? Or even for the LET/LESIG to keep people organised on their list?
Oh and what' with the save .BMP screenshots? (Don't have to answer that one)

There's usually a way to do most anything in a program given enough time, but since SOE's chat system doesn't have the same kind of group support for buddy lists that the old AIM system had, as far as I know this isn't something we can do very easily.

If the developers/engineer's had enough spare time, and community was out-spoken about implementing this and incredibly receptive(Read: Thankful)  if/when it's implemented you could easly do it?
Still kinda qondering about those .BMP, they were just so darn good when editing screenhots and the like. SMILEY
