I've decided to make a Raijin style post about our national Holiday up here in the Kingdom of Canada. :smileywink:

Whoo hoo. Canada Day. What better day to celebrate the creation of a country as cool as Canada than July 1st eh?

Don't have to deal with snow or ice or freezing your posterior off trying to BBQ. Yeah... Summer rules!

If you can't have fun on Canada day... you are really doing something wrong.

And remember while your knocking back a cold one to raise your glass to that great big village called Canada!!!

A village called village ...  Get it?  :smileyvery-happy: Ah... nevermind. Guess you have to be canadian and wierd. :smileywink:

Canada Day Origins

--------------------------

Canada Day celebrates the creation of the dominion of Canada through the British North America Act on July 1, 1867, uniting three British Territories - into a federation.

A proclamation was issued by Governor General Lord Monk, on June 20, 1868, asking that "all Her Majesty's loving subjects throughout Canada to join in the celebration of the anniversary of the formation of the union of the British North America provinces in a federation under the name of Canada on July 1."

The holiday itself was formally established by statute in 1879, and was originally called Dominion Day, making reference to the term "dominion," which was first used to describe a political union within the British Empire for Canada, at a time when the British government was hesitant to adopt the name proposed by the Fathers of Confederation: Kingdom of Canada.

The name was changed to Canada Day on 27 October 1982.
