Given the current controversy about bans, I thought I would ask if this will be considered an exploit before trying it. The impending hotfix will temporarily raise red frag drops and vendors will buy-back abilities at 100% of the price. I'm sure I'm not the only one that sees a good way to make $info here, and without the risk of the Marketplace. Will coding abilities for the express purpose of selling them to vendors be considered an exploit?
My opinion is this should be allowed, since we need all the info we can get with the combat upgrade. Of course, I don't want to end up on the receiving end of the ban stick. :smileysurprised: Let us know please.
The market place already takes levels into consideration the default price when you place it on it I think, although I may have made that up.
If I didn't make it up though, then I assume the vendors will just be adapted to take into consideration the level. Even if I didn't make it up, I read it that it calculates the leveling cost, so even if you coded the new ability, you'd still only get the base price for it.
Edit: oops, I see what your saying now. I still think level 1 abilities will be charged at the current price now though (since you didn't have any leveling up cost)
They're only buying it back for the amount of money you've put into the ability....They're not going to buy a lvl 1 ability and give you 8.7 mil for it.
p.s im coming back!! see ya real soon Cat Face lol
I just looked and I can't believe I don't have a screenshot of that! Oh well, this will have to do. Hey, is that a flying cat or a giant cat on the sidewalk? :smileyvery-happy:
I honestly don't see the point in coding abilities simply to sell them to vendors. Even if the vendors don't take into account any coding cost discounts you may have and thus buy it based only on the base cost, you'll still only going to make a very small amount of profit. You'd be better off data mining for roughly the same amount of info!

You are never ever better of at Data mining at least not until they make it worthwhile :smileytongue:

IIRC, level 50 abilities default to 700K or higher on the marketplace. That's the price I'm expecting vendors to pay during this temporary buy-back period. I guess we'll have to try it and see.
Sattakan wrote: Wait, wait, are you saying that if I code Kung Fu Grandmaster, the vendor will buy it back for $1.2 mill?
Yes: $1,250,000. It costs about $93,000 to make. I had three subs in my inventory, so I just made about $3.5 mil in a couple of minutes. Now, I have to go farm for more, so it's hard to say if this is an exploit, especially since the buy-back is temporary. I salivate over the $info I can earn doing this, but I don't want to get banned.
That's the question: Is this side-effect intended or even allowed? Given that the cost of upgrading new abilities is quite high, the devs may have had this in mind, or at least let it pass, but I can't speak for them.
Buy-back of any ability: Intentional Increased frag drop for creating abilities: Intentional Using these to earn $info for upgrading abilities: Unknown
I hope Brewko isn't the first one to answer. :smileysurprised:
