Re: Don't ask for ridiculous things / support the team / you make bunny cry
on the revolutions bonus disc there was talk of interlock dog grooming and i have to say i'm still v disappointed it was never implemented. :robotsad:
i am totally on board with u re: the near impossibility of implementing cars but i do have to say that in a magical world of no developing/resource constraints cars would make a lot more sense than inexplicably hyperjumping from place to place in plain view of crowds of bluepills.

Re: Don't ask for ridiculous things / support the team / you make bunny cry
For myself, the only issue I have with the statements made by the OP is that some of the things the community is asking for should have been in the initial release. If Warner would have had more patience while Monolith was developing the game, they may well have been.
Adding melee weapons to the game would be a serious endeavor, requiring dedicated development. The easiest part of that process would be designing the model weapons; after that, you have to lay out melee weapon skill trees, design their separate branches and then begins the laborius work of designing the animations, which is probably the most labor-intensive portion of the process. However, going back to my opening statement; melee weapons should have been in the game from the beginning. Even when I was in the beta, it was strange to see racks of katanas, wakizashis and tantos and find that you couldn't actually use them.
A more robust clothing design system would also be a laborious process, but at a minimum, at least you would not have to actually design and model the clothing from scratch. So the most intensive portion would be mapping the textures and colors for every single piece of clothing and developing the system that allows the player to assign desired attributes. The GUI for that process would be the least difficult portion.
For myself, those two items, while difficult, are not unreasonable requests because they were omissions that should have been in the game at release.
The community in MXO obviously cares about the game. I'd be willing to say that if the tools were in their hands, there are definitely those in the community who would be willing to take on partial development of those two items. At the very least, there are designer/developers in training (like myself) who wouldn't mind having credit for those designs on their resumes and in their portfolios coming out of the gate. Personally, I would take the credit over pay.
The other items I agree are mostly unnecessary embellishment to the game for the exact reasons the OP stated, particularly drivable vehicles and player property.
