Havent played since the first month, how is the game going?

Like the others said, not a whole lot has changed.  Most of the
time and effort has went into Live Events, which if you haven't played
since the first month, doesn't matter much to you.  However, SOE
is scaling back the events and concentrating on bug fixes and new
content, like Pandora's Box.  Good things are on the way. 
I'd say check back in a month and see how things are going.
