That thing the forums got reset for...

Ummm, I think the problem is still there, as when I look in the list of all people on the forums, my name shows up 4 times.



And how did I get this name anyway, It's not the name of my Station Acct, nor is it the name of any of my characters.

What I found slightly annoying was that I couldn't use Katla as my station ID, but I could use it as my forum name.  I got stuck using katla_vor_toril again, which was my old WB login name.  Katla wasn't taken...I kept getting an "invalid name length" message, even though it clearly said 4-15 character limit.  Now, I'm no math whiz, but I'm pretty sure Katla meets the requirements.  Ah well.

Can't they just add a field for us to change our handles in our profile?

This certainly was something fun to wake up to. Too bad that couldn't have saved out all the posts before the reset. But I can see that as being nowhere near as annoying as losing your forum name =(

The downside to that is pretty much giving people free range on "stealing" identities. As is obvious with the current situation, if someone is desperate enough to try and snag someone else's name so they can't use it, what's to stop them from using a "change handle" option from impersonating people?

It looks like what happened was that they cleared out all the forum posts, but not the forum users.



What i bet will happen is that they will go through in a day or two,
and prune all the accounts that have been inactive since the forum wipe.



That will basically nullify any duplicates (or one would hope).  However I'm not in charge, so what do I know, lol.

I just got odd the phone with COE support.  The guy said there was a way to change the forum handle, but wasn't sure.  I've been looking for a way and so far nothing.

i was able to obtain the same handle for the forums that i had earlier this morning/last night. there was an option during the station account registration to enter a forum handle. i enter 10011 and it seems i got it even tho i was already registered as 10011.

So true, as if we haven't seen enough childish behavior.
Hopefully they'll get this fixed soon.
At least make it independant of the registration. Or close the boards completely
until they get them in synch with our main accounts.

The only good thing about the naming system was that I can finally add "Lady" to the front of my name.  YAY!



And sucks to hear about you Tbone... then again, you could almost count on someone would do that just to be a complete jerk.
