when theNPC I'm escorting thinks it's a good idea to attack every gang member we pass on the way to the next objective. The first time it meant the mission took 5 times longer than it should have, and the second time it happened my NPC end...

I had the same problem with my tutorial. I had updated every part of my character before I tried to jack out, so that wasn't the problem. I've found that this game is rife with bugs in missions.
My friend got the game and she joined the Machines right off the bat. I've been playing for the same time as her now and I have no idea how to join one faction or the other. I would like to join the exiles... Some NPCs in the plazas give l...
